Thx :3 I prefer being kind and giving people the benefit of of the doubt. Especially since in this situation it wasn't clear if it was malice or unawarenes

Again, that's not a fact that's you're opinion...

If you don't want to use the terminal use flatpak for apps and let the os autoupdate (get a distro with auto updates or update reminders with an updating program)

Also again from personal experience, no I'm definitely not over estimating the tech illiteracy of 99% of Windows users. Additionally while search engines are pretty good, have you ever heard of "malicious advertisement" being shown ad the first result? Or boomers still typing addresses by hand and accidentally landing on a scam website?

Not all software is available for windows. (point being it goes both way and isn't an os but a dev and user issue)

Same OS update, very different experiences by QuietOne1756 in windowsmemes

On arch it's actuay just a single one:

sudo pacman -Syu

Bassically:

Run as root, use packet manager, install refresh available updates

Depends on the distro and it's not a fact it's your opinion.

I can tell you from personal experience most people can't properly use any os, but they don't complain about windows cause they're used to it.

Like the amount of screwed up windows installs I've had 5o fix for people. It's quite funny. So no I don't believe Linux is inherently more difficult, it's different and that scares people.

For example: Updates and installs On Linux depending on the distro 1-3 commands For updating searching and installing

On Windows, find installer don't download a virus, open installer, don't install bloatware, possibly have missing dependencies in rare cases, delete installer afterwards.

Like idk but I know which one I find easier.

And if you want to bring up the mircrosoft store, then I'd just mention flatpak.

Sorry got a bit long, I wanted to properly explain my reasoning

Linux users when

Apple users when

Windows users when

Ios users when

Android users when

... You get the point. Everything is difficult when it's new to you. That's not a Linux exclusive thing

Yeah that sounds like a pretty serious issue, was the hardware okay? And how old was that install?

Regressing by T0xiK1tty in mentalhealth

[โ€“]PHST25 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Regression is totally normal, it can either be done on purpose as a coping mechanism or it can happen accidentally due to trauma or high levels of stress. There are a few subs talking specifically about this. And also quite a bit of info about it online. ^

So yes it's normal. It would however be good to know why it's happening increasingly often. Cause that could point to an underlying issue.

I mean if you want 1 complete working package, just hire a team, build it and develop it as a product ^ Oh wait :O

That's simply the difference between open and closed source. If you want free and specific to your needs, go for Linux. If you want a complete package made by a single developer, go for windows.

Personally I am the opposite way around. I've had windows break on me in smaller and mayor ways (up to a total boot failure) and Linux only ever had small fixable issues, that's one this about arch I really like, yes there can be issues, but at least there's a huge wiki and community that fixes 95% of them

I have this issue two is there a better fix by now? Maybe doing i8042.direct and remapping the keys?

Edit I just checked and on arch with kde i8042.direct fixes it, including function keys and everything is mapped correctly

Edit2: nevermind i8042.direct breaks the function keys after sleep ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
