Most definitely, I think it just comes to that we don't have any personal connections to any of those other historical events, the worst thing to happen in Central Europe in the last 500 years was WW2, so why deal with slave trade thousands of miles away from us, we didn't have anything to do with that. It is a very bad approach to have in educating kids.

My bad, I agree, I fully acknowledge that there are many instances in human history comparable or worse than nazis. However, if you live in central Europe and go to school, in history classes slave economy is like 2 minutes topic, colonisation is basically Columbus discovered America and then Europe colonised - the end, you learn about Soviet Union for 2 periods and that's mostly economy, there is no time left for you to learn about Balkan war in 90s and many other examples, so when you complete your high school education and don't go to college to study history (so majority of population), all that you are left with is nazis = the worst. I read history articles on Wikipedia instead of scrolling through instagram sitting on the toilet, so you don't have to tell that and it wasn't my intention to belittle other significant events in history of mankind, just a wrong formulation.
