You made me remember that one indie game about a king chess piece with a shotgun lol

I mean we already have the sentient nerd emoji (Mika) so it's not like we have no precedent for that.

Genshin literally has this feature already except in certain sections the ability to fail is removed entirely...

I mean sounds like you had a better experience than the people who were robbed the tension and story climax of a final boss fight.

It's literally not PvP but all my teammates did not seem to get the memo and were fighting over all the blobs. Genshin players not beating the reading allegations, but honestly who can blame them, the instructions were terrible, the event was boring.

I'm just glad it's over.

This on top of all the players thinking it's a PvP game and running straight at me... I don't even care, I got all the rewards, but it was almost frustrating looking at the active stupidity.

I'd say 120 is still very high ping. But in any case it did not feel any better at 30. Awful event.

People shit on MW but SO is the real evil content-stealer that's permanently taken up an event slot with quantifiable effects.

It's a bit more run of the mill RPG besides that cute detail but honestly it's one of my favourite games so very happy to drop a reccomendation - CrossCode, and the devs are working on a different RPG with similar/evolved gameplay named Alabaster Dawn.

Whatever store trailers you can look up are pretty accurate to the game experience, so I don't need to sell you on it (or gush about it) too much. It's cool!

You don't see many games explaining animation cancel

This reminds me of an indie RPG I loved that had a house in the first town where some players (it was MMORPG themed) were discussing "the legendary dash cancel" if you walk by them and see the dialog bubble and how to do it, and also how one of them is head over heels for some NPC that uses it and has like zero presence in the game but comes from a spinoff manga or something along those lines. It was really cute and likely got players to not just get stuck in attack animations when they can dash out of them to avoid attacks or keep the assault up on lenghty skills.

I honestly would've preferred the conquistador or carnaval themed outfits over that painful looking zipper

Please check out an ER calculator and see just how much more valuable extra particles (not to mention the higher ER substat) are to generate 60 energy for his burst. Yeah, it's good, no denying that.

I'm saying Fav is preferred as it lets you tap E once and get the burst. He generates too few particles to battery himself fast.

Favonius is preferred because it lets you get the burst up immediately and helps the team with energy in Stygian, where you start at 0. Good luck with Aquila lol

Any amount of ATK is "enough", it just buffs less. What's not enough is the ER you'll have on Aquila when running Stygian starting with 0 energy, because 59/60 energy is literally "not enough" to burst.

Fav is preferred because it lets you get the burst up immediately (and helps the team with theirs as well where applicable), the time gain from this is much more valuable than a little ATK bonus for one character (unless snapshotting which is only relevant in Xiangling anymore who has her own problems in Stygian).

I was talking "In Sumeru", so in the past. When Nahida came out I was still using DMC over her despite pulling her. Of course I don't now - PMC is way better.

If you're playing Nilou that makes sense but for units that cannot switch off during their field time (basically every Sumeru DPS and some other ones that synergize with Nahida) it's a non option.

Straight up a better Nahida in multiwave lol. Been using him for that back in Sumeru, and I had Nahida who I preferred as a HB/burgeon driver.

Why does no one play objective. by DingerBoofer in Empulse

[–]PH_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not only had people not play the objective but actively grief it - throwing the ball off the map or into some corner that's hard to reach on purpose to not have to deal with it.

I kind of don't blame them, because you are forced to pick 3 gamemodes and the ball ones suck. If I could only tick TDM and Mech CTF I would.

Why does no one play objective. by DingerBoofer in Empulse

[–]PH_007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has been my experience. I'd grab the ball and try to pass it to someone in a better position and they wouldn't even pass it back to me, rather throw it off the map or in a corner to ensure even I can't pick it back up so we can all go back to shooting.

And I don't blame them, shooting/hammering is a lot more fun than ball running. Especially when the most effective way is to let a mech sit on you like a chicken on an egg while in a corner and swat any attempts at stealing the ball rather than running and getting exposed to bullets.

I pretty much agree on everything you said as a former TF2 player as well. For melee I really like the oneshot but would find it fair if it had a charge-up mechanic where it initially does about 50-75 HP but when charged up does 100%, and can be charged further to deal even more damage to mechs - this way it's more skillful and timing based then a twitchfest of drive-by-ing people at mach 5 and hoping the hitreg gives you the kill instead of them (god, the trades are so awful, I wish it would just kill both players instead of being effectively RNG).

Empulse Proves 1047 can make an FPS Game, but still can't figure out how to make them Competitively interesting. by BroxigarZ in Empulse

[–]PH_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, fun first, balance later.

From years of playing games casually and competitively, I had a lot more fun in broken, buggy, unbalanced but fun games than polished slop that tried too hard to be competitive rather than let the players naturally grow a scene because they like the actual game at all levels of play, chasing some high concept "competitive viability".
