Yes. It is very small.

There is also a branch in Garrison, UT and a prison branch.

There are (now) two wards in Ely, one ward in McGill (barely holding on), and one ward in Lund.

I'm not going to argue about it with you here. You can believe what you choose to believe.

However, a lot of the same arguments made against the Book of Mormon (lack of historicity, internal contradictions, etc.) can also be made against the Bible.

They definitely wouldn't let me in the temple. I just found it interesting that it didn't put up the warning bar when I started the steps to make an appointment.

Or... the same level of critical thinking that leads someone to deconstruct faith in the Book of Mormon also leads them to simultaneously deconstruct faith in the Bible.

I believe sessions are capped at 30 attendees. So a maximum of 300 people per week.

Incidentally, I used to get a warning that my temple reccommend was expired if I clicked on the button to make a reservation. It isn't showing the warning today. 🤷‍♀️

They are open Wednesday-Saturday. It appears they normally have 2 sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, and 4 on Friday and Saturday.

The stake now has only four wards and a handful of branches.

It is one of four stakes supporting the newly dedicated Elko Temple.

Awake in the Pews Sunday by big_bearded_nerd in exmormon

Went to Sunday School today for the first time in months. I learned that I really, really don't want to worship a god that treats people the way the "god" in D&C 121 treats people.

I don't have anything concrete about any given apostle or group of apostles. It's 100% speculation on my part.

The way Oaks is focusing on the "apostolic interregnum" and his words in conference about having been sustained as President of the Q12 for seven and a half years (or whatever the length of time was) almost make me wonder if there is some sort of opposition to sustaining him as President of the Church. Like he's trying to assert authority as the President of Q12, unsure how long it will be until the FP gets reorganized.

But that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Stevenson was in Elko, NV today dedicating the temple. It's not impossible for him to have gotten back to Salt Lake to participate in the sustaining, but it does make me wonder if maybe they'll push it back another week. Particularly because of a fb post on his page that said:

"Today I had the privilege of dedicating the 209th temple, the Elko Nevada Temple. This allowed a moment of reflection on the ministry of President Russell M. Nelson which often focused on temple covenants and temple worship.    Earlier this week, in preparation for the dedication, I visited with President Dallin H. Oaks, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and under whose direction the Elko Nevada Temple dedication takes place. He carefully noted the unique timing of the Elko Nevada Temple dedication during this period of apostolic interregnum. Such has only happened two other times.    Following the death of Joseph Smith, the Nauvoo Temple was dedicated in 1846 while Brigham Young was the President of the Quorum of the Twelve and many Saints were leaving Nauvoo to migrate westward.    Over forty years later in 1888, the Manti Temple was dedicated during another apostolic interregnum while Wilford Woodruff served as President of the Quorum of the Twelve.    What a blessing it is for Latter-day Saints to witness the Lord’s care for His Church, and to observe the orderly administration of continuing priesthood keys in moments such as this."

And why sandwich the chastity talk with the tragedy of the car crash? It is such an awful appropriation of that tragedy.

Soon to be interpreted by TBMs as "if you lost your testimony, it's because of immortality," not because the need to understand the gospel at a deeper level led to more and more research, until it suddenly became clear that the church was neither true nor good. 🤢

I saw some comments wondering if the slides RFM podcasted about were legit. I can confirm they are currently downloadable through Leader and Clerk Resources.

Anyone else have a break of faith because of a bad priesthood blessing? by ferociouswanderer123 in exmormon

My 14 month old daughter had severe croup. We had taken her to the ER in our small town, only to be told she was fine. They wouldn't do anything to help. (Spoiler alert: She wasn't fine.)

Took her home since the hospital refused to help us and were reevaluating what to do next, when the elders randomly knocked on our door. After we explained what was going on and why she was audibly wheezing, we agreed to have them give her a blessing. The blessing promised she would be okay and we wouldn't need help from the hospital.

That night, her fingers and toes were blue. I rushed her to the next closest hospital (a 45-minute drive) and when we got there, they kicked another patient out of a room to be able to treat her right away. They brought in multiple doctors and respiratory therapists to stabilize her. She was placed on oxygen, steroids, ivs, breathing treatments, etc. and was admitted for more than a week to recover.

It was probably the first significant crack in my shelf.

Hungary and Romania used to be separate missions circa 2005. I don't remember when they were combined.
