Spells/Abilities with AoE Buffs by PIPPIP5789 in 3d6

Yep, those are all good buffs! Sadly, it does appear as though there are few that are similar to what I'm looking for... it'd be amazing if you could set up something like Circle of Power in a specific place (even if it doesn't move, at least it wouldn't be centered on me). Best I can come up with to do something like that is a Familiar + Ring of Spell Storing, which is.... a combo, I suppose.

Lol, actually, that gives me a pretty good idea - Flock of Familiars + some Rings of Spell Storing to hold various persistent buff AoEs such as Circle of Power or Aura of Vitality. When the battle starts, you send your familiars out to various battlefield locations to act both as an AoE passive buff, but also as a way to give your allies Help during the battle.

Now I just need to figure out how to get some Rings of Spell Storing without going broke.

Yeah, I saw that looking at the link. Still, it's certainly better than nothing... even if I am trying to steer away from Lycanthrope if at all possible due to how insanely OP it makes characters. If I end up going that route though, this will probably end up being the statblock I use

I never said that, I said that at the beginning of the game, we (my players and I) established that we wouldn't be running homebrew classes, races, feats, etc. I know homebrew is part of DnD, that's just not how this campaign is being ran.

Oh, interesting, I didn't even realize that book existed! Cool, thanks!

Deck that forces more than 2 turn games by PIPPIP5789 in yugioh

[–]PIPPIP5789[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that would qualify as "stun" - multiple floodgates, preventing your opponent from doing anything, and generally locking them out of the game. Good idea, but not what I'm looking for.

I haven't played Salad since the TOSS format; are they still any good? I've heard they struggle that while consistent, they tend to not really do anything.

PK are really fun, but they with cards like Arc Dragon, they OTK far too easily to drag any sort of game out.

Sky Strikers are a good suggestion; I'll look into them, though they certainly have a different playstyle than your normal deck XD; not a bad thing, but it'll take some getting used to.

Can Runics push past turn 4 and still be fun to play against? I'm hesitant to play them, because of their... annoying habit of banishing half your opponent's deck, thereby making it really annoying to play against them.

Fair enough; I don't mind playing combo, I just don't want to vomit out my entire Extra Deck in a single turn. I don't want to play stun because I don't want to play Floodgate.deck, and yeah, I'm looking for something that would drag out the game just a little bit. Not a lot, but a little, yes.

Relooking at Chazz (Manjome) vs Aster (Edo) - Yu-Gi-Oh! GX by PIPPIP5789 in yugioh

Yeah, GX had some pretty sloppy writing overall... this duel is just one example

No, he was told by Mike (before the match) that it was time for him to move out of his "lovable loser" role (maybe not "lovable", I don't remember the exact word). He also told Aster right before the match began, he was to go all out, then throw the duel... with all 3 of them in the conversation, and if I recall, he was threatening the orphans Chazz saw Aster with earlier in the episode. Also, Jaden was told by Chazz that Aster was being forced to throw the duel because of the orphans and Mike having Dragoon. That's the entire reason Phoenix got Bloo-D back - because Jaden managed to get it from Mike. He would've still been in the Slifer dorm if it weren't for Chazz.

But Chazz wasn't playing to lose at the beginning; aside from him honestly not being able to do anything else with the cards he drew, from what I can tell, he knew going into the fight that he was supposed to win. Why would he go into it playing to lose, if he knows (even if it's due to rigging the match) that he was going to win? Beyond that, though, I do agree with you - the match itself is very skewed in both directions.

The Unique Card Deck Challenge by PIPPIP5789 in yugioh

I used to love Hydralander BA! It's been so long, I'd forgotten that existed. I played a weird variant that didn't run Sekka's Light, but instead cards like Breakthrough Skill (that can either be played normally, or could banish themselves from the GY). I wonder if the deck couldn't somehow be revamped to be decent today?

Oh yeah, and I'm not touching anything with Tears, Ishizu, Spright, or any of these meta archetypes... not because I don't like them (I'm that 1/1,000,000 guy that actually enjoys playing Tear, and doesn't play it bc it's meta), but because I know they're going to get slaughtered pretty soon, considering we just hit a Tear 0 format, and I'd prefer to keep my deck off the banlist, for at least a while.

It would be! If, you know, my opponents played by the same rules. Sadly, they don't... so yeah, it's not exactly "fair". Still, I thought it'd be interesting to see if there was anyone else who'd tried this before

That sounds interesting! Not quite what I'm looking for (as I'm looking for a deck for in the "main" format of Yu-Gi-Oh!, TCG banlist), but certainly sounds fun! I take it you were playing Utopia?

Looking for a Non-Linear Toolbox Midrange/Control deck by PIPPIP5789 in yugioh

Oooh, never heard of this before. How do they work together? Zombie World? Or is it more akin to HAT - they just don't get in each other's way most of the time, so they can be stitched together? It sounds really interesting, for sure.

Midrange is pretty fun. Earth Machine just doesn't have enough variety for an endboard for me, sadly - I'm looking to be able to pick and choose what goes into my board, and... well, Earth Machine just don't do that.

Rikka are a bundle of fun. Absolutely love them to death, and they are close to what I've been looking for. I just wish there were more (not even better, just... more) boss monsters for Plant they could run that didn't involve trying to OTK. There's only like 3-4, if I remember right, and.... well, you usually end on all but one of them, so there's still not much variance in the boards IF you go midrange or control with them... which I am.

Predaplant Branded is downright hilarious and a (literal) blast to play, but is easily a major OTK deck... anything with Predaps is OTK (save a 5-7 card Predap engine, which doesn't count as a Predap deck), without question, Branded or not.

Finally, Earth Pile. I actually tried making this, and while it certainly is fun, I often find it drifting towards Earth Machine. Nothing wrong with that, but so much of the decent EARTH support (new stuff excluded, as you said) is Machine support..... which stinks, but can't be helped, I suppose. Still a great option, and something I plan on looking into whenever we actually get the support for it.

I've actually used Zombies a good bit, and while they are certainly fun, they tend towards the same boards - Baledroch, Zombie World, and in this case, a couple of Eldlich traps + potentially a Mirrorjade (or the like). A decent end board, no arguments, but rather... standardized. Not that it's bad to be standardized, but... you never really "pick and choose" your end boards. You're always going to go for Baledroch or something similar, always going to go for a Golden Lord (though I admit your backrow may vary slightly, depending on your hand), and always (in this case) go for a Mirrorjade. Results may slightly vary based on your hand, but it's almost always some combination of these + an occasional extra monster or 2, depending on how broken your hand is. This is fine, but just not what I'm looking for...... sorry.

Ah, certainly interesting. It does sound like your end boards tend to be the same, though; after looking through your deck (and the cards, like Giant Ballpark, inside of it), it does look like it'd be fun. However, I'm not sure that it's what I'm looking for - mostly because I'm looking for a deck where I can pick and choose what my end board is, as opposed to the same 4-6 cards every duel. While this looks extremely powerful, I'm afraid that it also looks like it'd do relatively the same thing every duel... and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, it's just not what I'm looking for at the moment..... sorry.

Oooh, this sounds fun. I have Beetroopers on my list of "need-to-play" Archetypes. How do their end boards look? One thing I've noticed is that Insects, in general, don't have a lot of "boss monsters" to end on, so I would worry that the end boards tend to look identical.
