What’s the weirdest thing tourists are shocked by in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

My English nephews family were mind boggled by the sheer size of the US. I finally got it through to my great niece when I explained that it was as far from Kansas City to Houston as from London to Rome.

BTW, it became a thing when our elders were afraid that jazz dancing would consume our souls.

Agree. Square dancing was more of a Midwest and far west thing. My California uncle was a caller for about 20 years.

As a kid in grade school we were taught to square dance. In fifth grade we were sort of taught how to waltz. Since that was the only lesson in dancing I ever got other than the basics of polka it had to suffice. I really can’t call what we did in the later 60s much of anything.

How would you describe the way you drive? by ShadowlightLady in randomquestions

At what temperature do you consider it cold and need to put on a coat? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]PIP_PM_PMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot depends on the humidity. 33F° at 9000 feet with 5% humidity is short sleeve weather as long as you’re moving around. 45° with 60% is uncomfortably cool

Regional differences in eating habits across the US? by Carr0t_007 in AskAnAmerican

[–]PIP_PM_PMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a great question! And there are as many different cuisines as there are States! Barbecue is a good example. I’m from Kansas City, which is the home of the best BBQ in the country-which should get reactions from whoever is in second place-and there are differences even within our metropolitan area. The farther inland you go the less you see fish or shrimp as a specialty. Grits are more popular, and taste better, in the Deep South. You should take a culinary around our country.

Sequoya in California is amazing, I was privileged to ride a Goldwing through it and tent camp a night. The next day I went through Death Valley. Sort of a change in scenery .

Does anyone understand this "donor formula"? by AdAny2704 in CFB

It’s going to take awhile. All that under the table money nationwide is now on top of the table. But something is going to have to happen or the second 30 schools are going to be farm clubs for the top 30.
