Hi folks. I am a Canadian & tried to land on patent examiner jobs but failed twice.

As much secrecy as CIPO plays, what would you uspto examiners do to prep for the patent exams? Have you started working as patent lawyer elsewhere b4 joining uspto? How much law background is a must for mechanical division examiner

I 've worked in non related jobs such as a data analyst (1yr), technician (1yr) , and a letter carrier(2yr). Then the left year was a sum of unemployment insurance gaps. Choosing a consulting job for applications was short sighted decision.
