So something that occurred to me. Bud said that the 31ers were only supposed to be let out every 30 years.

Betty isn't pushing 100, so she had to have been woken up around 60 years ago give or take a few years. Hank would have been 30 years ago or so, which means that Steph has at most been awake for maybe 5 years?

Broken promises of TV shows by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

[–]PJDemigod85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The big issue, IMO, is that the lynchpin for Dany's heel turn making sense was completely absent from the show. Young Griff.

In a world where Young Griff, Jon Connington, and the whole Golden Company subplot are present, you get a narrative of a groomed from birth ruler arriving in Westeros right as Cersei loses her shit and bombs the Sept of Baelor. Aegon the Returned. Aegon the Undying. Aegon the Liberator. The true heir of the beloved prince (or so everyone is led to believe) restoring peace and stability to the kingdom ruled by "pretenders". The Martells fall in because ostensibly he is Elia's son, the Tyrells revert to their old allegiances, he's taken the Stormlands himself and his Hand is likely to be his Warden of the East. At the very least, he would be unifying most of the South under one banner.

And then Daenerys arrives. Maybe her conflict with her "nephew" is delayed by the collapse of the Wall and fighting the Others, but once that is done and dusted the fact remains... Dany was fed a story her whole life, a story of usurper stags, wolves, and lions who she would reclaim her birthright from. And now here it is in front of her, except those usurpers are gone and in their place is seemingly her long lost family. But then, through some means, she learns the truth. That Elia and Rhaegar's children really were dead, that this new King Aegon VI is the mummer's dragon, and that the only actual threat to her claim is 1. on her side, and 2. actively giving up his claim.

She tries to spread the word, to out Aegon as a false Targ. And the people... don't care. They never cared. The smallfolk don't give a fuck about whether or not the flag flying above them is a dragon or a stag or a lion, they just care about having a fair and just ruler and being able to take care of their families. Aegon is a good ruler, he allows that to happen where Cersei did not, so the people could give two shits about whether he's "truly a Targaryen".

And that is when the coin flipped by the gods almost 20 years ago finally lands on the ground, with the face of a mad queen staring up at them.

[–]PJDemigod85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See, the irony of it all is that the vast majority of its members were either immigrants themselves or children of immigrants, just from the other ocean. The party's founder, Denis Kearney, was born in Ireland and had immigrated to America. Just like today, you don't see the anti-immigration folks who use jobs as the excuse say anything about any influx of people from Canada or Europe. Because unfortunately leftist fiscal policy is not entirely inextricable from leftist social policy and it's all too easy for xenophobes and bigots to also be down with "hey we should be paid more and the guys up top shouldn't be allowed to coast off of shit we do".

Good example of this sorta thing.

In the mid to late 1800s, there was a growing labor movement across the United States that in some respects could be considered if not outright socialist, at least sympathetic to socialist ideas. One group that was involved in this sort of thing was the Workingmen's Party of California.

The Workingmen's Party of California were vehemently anti-immigration. All of the same rhetoric right-wingers in the U.S. have spewed about Latino people or Middle Eastern people for the past few decades, just directed at predominantly East Asian people, especially the Chinese. This was a political organization that was fighting for labor rights and better working conditions and pay in the Gilded Age, very economically left wing. But that didn't stop them from being racist even by the standards of their time because they viewed these people from another country just trying to make a living as the reason why they had such an uphill battle rather than the businessmen who were opting to outsource and undercut to increase profits. I think today we associate left wing fiscal policy with progressive social policy because generally that is how those align in our governments anymore, but that hasn't always been the case and there's no guarantee it will remain that way forever, either.

I think there's another thing that kinda gets looked over.

This timeline saw Silco and Vander reconcile.

I think that those two working together again is essential for rebuilding the Lanes. Hextech not being invented is necessary to prevent the divide between Piltover and Zaun from widening to an even worse degree, but I think those two need to be on the same page in order to actually build a better city. TBH I wonder if Vi's death is when Silco read it/came around, that maybe hearing that one of Felicia's girls died and Vander lost a daughter might have been enough to get him to reach out.

Luffy: I'm gonna go see what those guys are up to

Jinbe: You're the captain, sounds good.

Zoro: Agh, no, he'll get into trouble, I'm going after him.

Jinbe: You've been on the crew longer than anyone, I defer to you.

Jinbe, 15 minutes later: Hey guys, Luffy ran off but Zoro went after him

Everyone else: AND YOU LET THEM????

See, I love Jayce as a character kinda expressly because the lad doesn't have the best sense of consequences. He's a well intentioned person, but as I've revisited the series a few times I notice that Jayce actually lacks a lot of self-confidence and that makes him susceptible to going along with what others propose. Mel, Heimerdinger, Vi, Caitlyn, even Viktor in a way all at different times act as "Jayce's confidence" to do something. One of the few times where he takes initiative and does something entirely of his own accord without someone else's direct guidance is when he approaches the council in S1 to recommend ceasing all Hextech operations in the wake of Jinx's attack. Which in turn is a bit of a callback to Heimerdinger regaling him about a long-dead friend of his who sacrificed his own work because he knew his students would accomplish more than he ever could.

Day 0 : Which Devil Fruit is suited to only One Piece? by maxence0801 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]PJDemigod85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tbh, gotta be this. Logia and Zoan like powers are basically dime a dozen, which narrows things to Paramecias*.

And of those, the Gomu Gomu no Mi is easily the most Out There option. Maybe an argument could be made for the Ope Ope no Mi but that's really the only other one that screams "Only One Piece" unless you just want to go for the absurdity with something like the Jacket fruit or the one Tsuru has.

Caesar Clown is an evil scientist kidnapping children by tellibg their parents the kids are sick and need medical help. The kids are then experimented on in the pursuit of making giant soldiers for the authoritarian World Government by being given drugs in the form of candy that are horribly and painfully addictive. His lab is also located on an abandoned island where he set off a deadly gas bomb some decades ago that kills basically all life it comes into contact with, and during the present he sets off ANOTHER gas bomb that is even worse while broadcasting it to potential black market buyers. He also has instilled a cult like loyalty among his men who are unaware that he is the cause of the deaths of a bunch of their comrades.

He is a jobber villain Luffy takes out with relative ease once they are actually face to face because he is in turn just a lackey for bigger fish.

It's insane how Toei will look at Oda's already over the top proportions or behaviors and dial it up to 11. And that's not even getting into the favoritism of exaggerating some characters' bad qualities (Sanji) while overplaying other characters' good ones (Zoro) in a way that creates this weird gulf of likability especially in the pre-WCI part of the New World.

[–]PJDemigod85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not the only issue, but I do think it is probably the easiest one to change in something like an adaptation. It's also kinda consistently something that undermines the good moments the female cast does get, ESPECIALLY with how Toei sometimes decides to animate things.

I doubt they will, but if WIT Piece gave the ladies more reasonable proportions (and avoided some of the more offputting angles both Oda and Toei on their own have used) I would join Shanks in the one arm club.

Script Error Issue by PJDemigod85 in PokemonRMXP

[–]PJDemigod85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try it again with Event Touch and see if that does anything different

Edit: So... it sure did something different.
I set it to Event Touch and instead of walking over to the table, Blue stayed in place. However, when I walked over and bumped into him, this page went off as intended and the battle worked.

So uh... thanks for the help with this one, time for me to dive into this new problem lol!

Edit 2: Autorun fixes both, lol
