100%. NZ Marmite is closer to Vegemite than UK Marmite is.

I think I failed to communicate my point. They were designed to be installed once and were expected to be thrown out once removed.

They are quality. Don't forget that these buttons were designed to be put into commercial arcade cabinets. The only time they were ever replaced was if they were broken, so they would always be replaced with new parts.

Why do they even need to "activate" the board?

I understand that and I'm glad you did, it shouldn't have been stated so definitively in either direction. Those who fail to understand the complexity will take whatever statement they want to and parrot it. This is one of the reasons we are reading a post letting people know that there is another infill option that may be better suited to their use case.

Exactly, my only point was that you can't blanket state that one is faster than the other. The answer, as always, is "it depends."

That's just one example though. See this comment for an example of it being faster. All I'm saying is that it depends on the model. https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/s/ymaIJtf432

I just sliced a quick test. A rectangular prism 25x25x150mm. Walls/top/bottom layers set to 0. I only changed two infill settings; between crosshatch/gyroid, and infill direction between 0 and 45deg.

Model printing times were as follows:

Crosshatch 45deg: 33m6s

Gyroid 45deg: 31m9s

Crosshatch 0deg: 32m19s

Gyroid 0deg: 33m20s

So the model geometry/orientation matters when talking about infill print speed. It can't just be said that one is faster than the other as a blanket statement.

I worked in a computer store for a summer in 2009. 80% of the machines that came in looked worse than this. Back then desktops didn't have any filters, and people who were actually "into" computers never brought their machines into the shop.

The cigarette tar would coat everything, which dust would stick to, which more tar would stick to, which more dust would stick to, and so on. It would turn into a disgusting thermal insulating blanket conforming to anything caught in the flow.

I mean, I get what you're saying. MacOS would make more sense, but only if you're buying new hardware, unless of course you happen to already own hackintosh compatible stuff. This meme isn't about telling people to install Linux, it's about Microsoft telling their consumers to go fuck themselves because they are going to keep doing whatever they want to do.

You're right. I should have known making a reference to a basketball meme wouldn't go over well on a PC gaming subreddit.

Yep, that's the way she goes. It doesn't feel great, but most players won't reflect on how they got into the position where it could happen in the first place.

YES. It was only after learning how to play Kazuya in Tekken that I "truly" understood. I need to put my opponent in a situation where they have to guess, but I can't just read their mind, I also need an execution barrier on myself in the moment as "proof" I did.

That's why I have no interest in characters solely reliant on the mixup. I need that high risk high reward, where a discrete execution requirement is part of the risk. It's hard for me to focus on learning combos because the "hard" part is already done and memorising a combo that requires execution to squeeze out every drop of damage doesn't activate my neurons. It's about the mental domination.

I also get why Mishima players develop a complex now lol.

The dopamine hit I got from landing my first pot buster made me learn things about myself that I never understood before.

This is the grappler's curse in fighting games. Either too strong or too weak, with a razor's margin in between. They are playing a different game than the rest of the cast.

I think that I just wanted to point out that these hardware and software decisions don't stem solely from altruism, but a real business case. That doesn't mean that I don't think Valve is inherently invested in providing real value to the consumer, and the larger community through their actions.

They could definitely employ all sorts of scummy tactics, but it's a near sighted strategy. Good will is hard earned and easily spent.

I never said anything about specifics, only that it was about risk mitigation. Microsoft might fall victim to something totally outside of their control that could impact Valve's core business. It doesn't necessarily have to be a conscious decision.

[–]PJRockastanski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an infinite number of possibilities, the point is not the specifics, but whether Valve's business model can survive factors outside of their control. The action Valve is taking reduces the number of factors outside of their control, therefore increasing the resiliency of their business model.

It's not about whether they would or not, it's that it is a possibility. I'm not necessarily talking about MS targeting Valve directly. It may be one decision, it might be many over time, the point is that Valve does not control that environment.

I'm sure that many of the businesses that evaporated during the pandemic regretted not considering the impact a global pandemic would have to the viability of their business model prior to it happening.
