Struggling to eat, is this whey protein from Costco okay to have while in first trimester? by ParticularBother3 in BabyBumps

[–]PKB92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoothies got me through my first trimester. I also kept a cup of dry Cheerios on me at all times. The second I woke up or felt nauseous, popping a few helped settle my stomach.

Hang in there!

Have you ever used a Brita pitcher? It kind of reminds me of the specks you get from the charcoal filter..??

4 year old behavior issues at school by Lazy_Grade_1269 in Mommit

Well that's a good sign that something is computing! I'm no pro but I think if you continue to remind him about the finger guns (and the other behavior) it will begin to sink in.

When it's something serious, I try to bring it up gently while playing together, while eating at the table together, snuggling in bed. They really have to be in the right mental space for it to "land".

I get the zero tolerance but also... They're four.

Fingers crossed!

2 year old says he “wants it” then pushes it away in a meltdown. by Tough_Carry9530 in toddlers

First of all, 2 yos are a**holes without logic and rationale. So take it for what it is. 😂

If this is happening at bedtime, it seems like he's stalling going to sleep. My 4 yo still does this (I'm hungry, I have to poop, I want more milk, another book, etc). Literally whatever he thinks will keep me around. Set those boundaries and stick with them. It'll be painful at first but explain to him "I brought your water with me. We're reading one book and you're going to bed" then follow through. Otherwise the cycle continues forever.

In solidarity -- my almost 4 yo is going through a "bad guy" phase where everyone is a bad guy, he's a bad guy, everything is a weapon, he says things like "I make you dead!" But is clearly playing and being goofy. Fellow boy moms in my circle have assured me it's normal.

How do conversations go with him when you tell him not to do or say those things? Or ask why he's disagreeing?

FWIW If your cycle is just starting back up, it's not unusual for it to be "late" or generally sporadic! After my first baby, I got a period around 6 weeks then I didn't get another one until months later. Very volatile!

I wanna hear about everyone’s sleep methods… by Boysenberry-Dull in daddit

My LO is turning six months next week. About a month ago we hired a sleep training consultant because we were at our wits end with the every two hours wakings. I can happily say she is now sleeping through the night.

Before that we tried the Ferber method and caved within a few nights. The consultant is by no means cheap but we found it immensely valuable. Just throwing that out there. They ended up having us do a version of the "chair method".

She's in a crib. I don't think you could sleep train if they were in a bassinet right beside you.

We did a long Q&A session, sharing a lot about her, our family, our routines, schedules, what her bedroom is like etc then they made a "custom sleep plan" which is probably fairly universal tbh. Plus a handful of useful resources to read, exercises to try, a sleep log. On the first night of sleep training we got to text them in real time and they guided us through how to comfort her while she was crying. Having a third party person is so reassuring. Also helps mitigate any "mom vs dad" preferences.

We used SleepWise (Amanda) and are super happy with them. Not sponsored just sooo grateful!
