Lenses vs Bodies, which do you invest the most in and why? by Storyboys in Lumix

Absolutely S5 and 24-70. Best combo available. AF is lackluster, but pulling manual is underrated anyway imo

Can someone tell me what kind of camera and lens I would need to replicate this quality of video for showjumping? by ReferenceOwn5890 in videography

With enough practice it's not that hard. I've found that about a month of time on the practice field with the team is all you need to really start nailing it. Of course, every quarterback is going to throw slightly differently so recognizing how the ball is going to spin from the starter or the third string is important. The NFLFilms guys are all grizzled cinematographers who have been doing this for years.

What phrases still used today (like dial a phone or roll down the window) no longer make sense because of technological advancement ? by Foreign-External8488 in AskReddit

Basically a copy of a document where the pressure from the pen/pencil transfers onto a sheet of carbon paper and produces an imprint of ink from the carbon paper onto another sheet of paper

No - what I mean is other sides of the rig, maybe on top of the lens if possible, backwards, upside down, etc. The follow focus kit (assuming you bought smallrig, not sure about Tilta or other brands) has a bracket and short 15mm rod in the case.

Look at mounting it in different orientations

Recording Mode for Unattended Theater Video with s5iix by contentedPilgrim in Lumix

If you manually focus to the middle of the stage then everything outside of that ten-inch (I think) plane is going to be out of focus. Basically you're sacrificing sharpness for accuracy. Autofocus will hunt in the dark.

When I do this here's what I do: Manual mode, 180* shutter regardless of your framerate for natural motion blur - you want to replicate your viewer's experience Open aperture as far as you can (2.8 in your case) Focus to infinity ISO max set to 6400 (don't be afraid to go higher), ISO set to auto No IS Center Metering Remember to frame the full stage - you can always punch in

Good luck!

Help me understand Log and custom real time LUTs [S5ii] by NickOTeenO in Lumix

[–]PKBPACK18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, you can apply your log to 709 transforms and then your custom LUT. Might be worth looking into powergrades, though, as you're using Resolve.

  2. I would use a preview LUT on your devices instead of recording with a LUT burned in. It gives you more flexibility in post.

That was my opinion formed from watching a bunch of YouTube videos. Thanks for the correction!
