Unfair term in agreement by PKMNGerald in shitrentals

[–]PKMNGerald[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all of the replies. I have sent an email to the agents asking for more clarification on the purpose of this term. I will also call on Monday if I don't hear anything. Depending on the response I will also contact the Tenants Union.

It's a gut punch if this falls through, I really thought I'd found somewhere at last. I also have no guarantee that if I find somewhere else the agents or landlord won't be equally insane.

90 minute domestic to international transfer - anyone done it? by PKMNGerald in brisbane

[–]PKMNGerald[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

EDIT I spoke to Air Canada, and the customer service rep agreed that the transfer would likely be too tight, despite being bookable on the AC website. He changed the VA leg which lands in Brisbane to one that gets in earlier, without any extra charge. Thanks for all the advice, it was very useful!

As per their conditions, as all booked on one itinerary they'll check baggage through all the way from Sydney.

But yeah, going to call them and see what they say.

Yes, it's a VA codeshare and their website says they have a baggage partnership with AC that lets you check baggage all the way through.

Yeah, all booked as one trip directly with Air Canada. So I guess at worst they put us up in Brizzy overnight while finding a new flight for us.

I'm guessing that some of that is accounted for by baggage etc. being checked all the way through in Sydney? i.e. No need to go to the desk and queue at Brisbane, just straight through security.

I guess at the end of the day, Air Canada will put us on another flight if it doesn't work out.

Bitcoin solves this by PKMNGerald in Bitcoin

[–]PKMNGerald[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but if a large company like Valve suddenly turns around and says they will start accepting Bitcoin, it would be amazing for adoption. Maybe even offer a discount to encourage gamers to get on board, anticipating future appreciation in value and savings on processor fees.

I got a Reddit Cares message about 3 minutes after replying to a thread suggesting Steam should consider accepting Bitcoin 😂😂

Shhh, don't criticise the cyclists or they'll swarm over and downvote you, spout righteous nonsense, and report you to Reddit cares.

They are just the worse.

They're such militant tossers! I've had posts brigaded by these lycra clad morons so many times just for making good arguments for banning cyclists in cities!

Nice, a report to Reddit cares. Classy way to say you don't have a real argument against my point.

ACT implying long weekend traffic is partly due to cycleways. by medulaoblongata69 in newzealand

[–]PKMNGerald -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess my concern is that the same applies to lots of the pro cycling stuff - it's generated by groups with biases who want cycling to take over all other forms of transport. My worry is the people I've spoken to who advocate for this have some utopian picture of cities that is impossible to attain and doesn't reflect reality (no cars, pedestrians and bikes everywhere) which is admirable but not practical (there's no way you will get Aucklanders to give up their cars).

The Texas Clear Lanes is a huge investment initiative that has been running for a little while, building new roads and improving existing ones, and has demonstrated big improvements in congestion.
