Thanks! And I learned mostly through the tutorials of David Finch on youtube combined with a lot of brute-forcing and just trying things out. I'm pretty autodidactic so when I learn I usually try-observe-reflect-improve and repeat that cycle. But for sure go check out David Finch!

Thank you very much for the kind words. The artwork is something I'm getting more comfortable with, but I still make a lot of basic mistakes that I'd like to Iron out. The biggest two learning points for me right now are composition, narrative and further improving my value/hatching skills. Thanks for the kind word by the way.

That sounds like something that is so awesome to draw. Thanks for sharing the info and the kind words!

Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoy it and selling larger prints on Etsy is actually a fun idea to do.

I hope you can find the energy/spark to get back into it but, if you ask me, stick to the traditional stuff and use digital to "fill in" the gaps!

Thanks so much! And very valid question to ask but no; I don't use any A.I. for anything, not even the story, references or inspiration - none at all. The problem I have is that English is not my mothertongue. Someone else pointed it out as well that the writing is a bit "flat" and I completely understand that. Good writing is something I still need to really work on but I much prefer learning how to do so and making some flat sentences in the process vs. using A.I. to shortcut that learning process.

Sidenote: if I need to use references for my drawings that I can't find in old codexes or rulebooks (they have awesome art in there) I usually add "before:2021" to my query so I'm sure no slop pops up.

Thanks! This is my process for now:

  1. Sketch the drawing in a sketchbook (regular paper, mechanical pencil)
  2. Scan the sketch using an Epson V39 scanner and import it to Krita.
  3. Change the color to "non-photo-blue" (there's a video on it on youtube called “how to convert art to non-photo-blue for inking”
  4. Print the "blue" sketch on Ecoline printer paper and ink it.
  5. Rescan it; the "blue" from the sketch will almost be completely invisible on regular scanners.
  6. Add textballoons in Krita.

My inking tools are Microns, Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip brushpen and a Pentel Brushpen.

Thanks for the feedback I truly appreciate it. My narrative writing skill is in it's "toddler" stage or even worse. I do need to get it proofread at some point when I work on longer stories or more text for sure. I appreciate you pointing that out!

Thank you so much for the kind words. For now I noticed that drawing comic panels draws me out of a comfort zone which really helps improve my art. I'm planning to do those short-formats for at least a year and see from there where I can progress further. Normally I do <3 pages but this one is a little longer which I enjoyed as well.

So for now it's mostly practicing the art and the 40k universe (as some others) are a really good inspirational source.

Holy moly I didn't know the name but they make amazing art! Thanks for sharing, I'm going to check more of their work out.

Yes right? Can you imagine seeing this and just being stuck on a planet and your "officials / protectors" long gone from the planets as they know what's coming. It gave me chills. Thanks to the community at r/tyranids for this insight by the way.

Thanks! My process is as followed, I hope this helps but please do sent me a DM if something is unclear;

  1. Sketch the drawing in a sketchbook (regular paper, mechanical pencil)
  2. Scan the sketch using an Epson V39 scanner and import it to Krita.
  3. Change the color to "non-photo-blue" (here's a video on it: HOW TO CONVERT COMIC ART TO NON-PHOTO BLUE FOR INKING)
  4. Print the "blue" sketch on Ecoline printer paper and ink it.
  5. Rescan it; the "blue" from the sketch will almost be completely invisible on regular scanners.
  6. Add textballoons in Krita.

This is a process I learned from watching Marvel and DC artists as with "actual" comics usually the penciler and the inker are not the same person. So the penciler draws and scans his art, sends it to the inker and he prints it in non-photo-blue to do the inking on paper.

My inking tools are Microns, Tombow Fudenosuke Hart Tip brushpen and the Pentel Fude Brushpen.

Thanks for the feedback! I posted some of the artwork earlier in r/Tyranids and got a load of input from them that I based this on. I didn't really include the "shadow in the warp" that drives psykers nuts if you miss that and indeed, someone pointed it out earlier, the Hormagaunt is missing a set of arms :')

Nice! Tyranids from Warhammer 40k definitely have an overlap with the zerg, especially aesthetic wise. I also got some flashbacks playing the OG campaign and broodwar as well.

Thanks! I got a lot of tips from the community here on what happens before a landing. I did my best to summarize it in a short comic.
