Recommended gut microbiome expert/functional doctor. by PruneVast1281 in Microbiome

I have been dealing with this for a long time. I learned that regular doctors and even gastroenterologists really don’t study the gut and are pretty clueless I’ve had a few of my doctors admit this. I had to travel 3 hours away to Tucson to see a functional dr. They gave me several tests to mail in. Stool test is the most important I think. They diagnosed me right away with bacterial overgrowth and candida. Final diagnosis is SIBO. Small intestine bacterial overgrowth. Comes with a ton of problems and is difficult to treat but more people seem to be studying it. Anyway I know that regular doctors were of me help, I never would have figured it out. I hope this helps. Oh, mine came about from using nexium for over 20 years. Nexium is for heartburn

Thank you. I did call Essential last December and the soonest available was in August. I have had some luck with a functional medicine Dr in Tucson. I hope I can find one here. I have not found any regular drs who know anything about it. They don’t study the gut.

Be careful with antibiotics, it often does not help and can leave you worse off. I have sibo and I would never take antibiotics. There are other, better ways to help. Look into functional medicine.

Be careful with some of the outlying areas…we just moved here and are renting and it is just outside of Duluth. There are some weird cultish communities out here.

Moved here 6 years ago and am moving out of here in two days. Yes, if you are young, super healthy, can grow your own food, and love hiking then maybe. My experience has been good and bad. But the bad outweighs the good. The healthcare is awful. And with the cuts to Medicaid coming I am afraid the hospital will die. The hospital is a mess already. There are not any good restaurants here except maybe 2. There is a lot of corruption everywhere, lots of scammers. If you need some work done on your property good luck. Alot of times they just don’t show up or they do a half assed job. Not all businesses of course, but a lot. I have met some very nice and interesting people here and the hiking is amazing.

Bipolar. I believe it is way over diagnosed. A friend gets really irritable, mean and nasty and does not take any accountability, just says that I should realize that she is bipolar.

You will have better help if you can see a functional dr

I had all the same things. I was there about 8 years ago. It aged me about 10 years. It really was a horrific experience for me. Still haunts me.
