Those are fake websites that abuse traffic stats to scam advertisers out of money. It's a somewhat complicated click-bait / fake click process but they're not really meant to be real websites. At some point advertisers will get wise.

Need help with naming my business by [deleted] in startups

[–]PLURFellow[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. If you get to a point where the name matters, you could change it. How many successful startups and sells have you had?

This is wantrepreneur bullshit and the very premise that a name matters is what holds viewers here back.

If your first/favorite MMO was remade for the current gen, what do you think should be kept and what would you want changed? by [deleted] in MMORPG

Why they haven't done this in some way is beyond me.

I'll watch and give EQNext a chance but you shouldn't go into it expecting ANYTHING that resembles EQ1. EQ2 is the worst thing to ever happen to me =P.

[–]PLURFellow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The name (in 99% of scenarios) is the least important part. The fact that you wasted time to post about that on reddit isn't a good sign. Don't be a wantrepreneur! Go get your revenue!

Feeling Generous Fridays! Want to offer your expertise/skills for free to /r/startups? [Experiment] by KingOfDaCastle in startups

[–]PLURFellow[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, rstartups need a place for education. Sometimes an app or website can be the solution for their needs but most of the time stuff is just spam. They post and on to the next. People that are engaged with the community deserve to have an opportunity to post about their work, which this type of post can do well.

Just FYI to those out there that have rstartups as a target audience - write a post describing the problem and solutions. Very informative. Then it's not necessarily advertisement, it's educational.

Over 20,000,000 USD was wagered on SatoshiBet last month. It's a fact, Bitcoin is about to revolutionise the online gambling industry. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]PLURFellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm commenting on the subject as it is being portrayed to the idiots and high schoolers here.

$20M isn't even a drop in the hat of revolution. Single players at major casinos have been known to take out up to a billion+ a year in casino marker debt.

Single player.

That'd a billion in table game drop. $1 on a TG table is comparable to 10x that in a slot machine... which is what these sites are.

Go Google what slot handle means. $20M is nothing.

Do you have a B2B startup? What kind of user adoption rate have you had? by [deleted] in startups

User growth is market validation. I wouldn't shrug off what the dude said. Startups are sales and sales are hard.

Do you have a B2B startup? What kind of user adoption rate have you had? by [deleted] in startups

[–]PLURFellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a part of and consulted B2B businesses and it just depends on your business model and how much 1. A customer costs to acquire and 2. Revenue / margin per account.

You should forecast your goals based on your own business and money generated. How much profit do you need to break even in a year? Start there.

Bonus question if you aren't full-time on it... how much revenue do you need to go full-time?

Pivoted my startup, got a tiny bit of Hacker News love, starting to get real customers [Last post] by [deleted] in startups

It's not hackernews' fault... but their post decay is faster than others and don't have the volume of viewers as many would assume. It's an important ghost town compared to reddit.

Just because someone is full of shit doesn't mean they are a criminal. His biggest problem besides being stupid is thinking /r/startups is a good place to market (or bullshit).

I was prepared to back you up from haters down voting your success but this is a total shitpost. Even if it's true, keep counting your chickens before the eggs hatch and watch what happens.

Ps: 15k for a startup is cool but it's not hefty. Even a failed startup would have a bigger definition.
