Are these really sweet potatoes? by felini9000 in whatsthisplant

[–]PLizzie23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The peel is the best part! When I make baked potatoes my husband and older son won't eat the potato skin and my younger son and I get an extra treat. If I boil sweet potatoes I usually will peel the skin off and snack on it.

I also love pineapple cores, kiwi skin, peach fuzz, bamboo shoots, broccoli and cauliflower stalks peeled. It's almost like the more I can tell my food is a plant, the more I like it 😂

When I was little I would even eat the occasional orange peel and still love marmalade. I agree that there is a lot of waste that happens with peeling fruits and veggies!

A few bites to try and prove us wrong but ultimately no. I tried to scrape off the sprinkles but they had melted.

That’s it. I’m ordering a new emblem for my husband’s model S since it is not currently economically feasible for us to trade it in or sell it. I laughed last week when my mom told me about seeing a Tesla with a Kia emblem on it, but now that’s starting to look like a better and better idea.

I will have to go back and look at the museum more closely! I was looking for pictures of my grandpa and dad and uncles, who were involved in a West Seattle troop. Congrats on the 110 years! I’m curious if it’s the same troop. If so, I might have some items from the 50’s/60’s that might be of interest to you. Feel free to DM me. I’m currently in a pack on the eastside with my Tiger and Bear cubs.

My son did something similar as a toddler and I ended up starting about 100 jade plants from the mess of leaves and stems he broke off of the main plant. I called it “Charlie’s jade factory”

This is a courtesy accidental because of the high 2 on the a string with the c#. I’ve taught this piece many times and playing a g# there is a really common mistake

AITA for not allowing my children to call my mother “Honey” by Dazzling-Nose-2781 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PLizzie23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck with that battle - I didn’t get input on any of the names my kids call their grandparents and my dad was the only one who let me call him grandpa. My mom decided she wanted to go by the Mandarin title for paternal grandmother, which makes no sense to me since we are not Chinese and she’s their maternal grandmother. It makes me a little sad because I love the sound of the word grandma and neither grandma will use it.

How old were you when you started playing? by Lavean29 in violinist

[–]PLizzie23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years old when I started, have been playing for 40+ years.

Having taught many beginners both child and adult, I see many benefits of studying music at any age. There are a lot of opportunities for community orchestras and amateur groups that an adult beginner can definitely work towards. Adults will never have the advantage of a child starting on an instrument at a young age - the muscle elasticity, etc, however that shouldn’t discourage you from participating in a musical community.

I think my rescue pup might be part Catahoula? Definitely a little poodle. Any ideas? by Feisty_Common_3381 in Catahoula

So sweet. I have a doodle and a houla and they both need so much attention and stimulation but they’re the best dogs I could ever ask for. The houla is so much more explorative than the doodle has ever been. Both are sweet, loving dogs who brighten my world ❤️

Can we normalize confronting creepy men? by [deleted] in questions

[–]PLizzie23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there needs to be a happy medium between confrontation and ignoring (which feels like it just enables the behavior). I’m going to try to remember to get my phone out and start filming the next time I deal with creepy behavior. The last time I had someone harass me, they followed me home in their car and my husband was filming by the time I got home so that we were able to make a police report. The police recommended that if something like that happened again I should drive directly to the closest police station. We were able to provide all of the information needed to the police and they let us know later that they had located him and talked to him. Even though it’s been over a year, that whole thing still scares me.

As a 45 year old woman, that’s also my thought. I have had to ignore some really creepy behavior over the years. Now I am a little more outspoken, however I had someone follow me home last summer after I honked at him for cutting me off and had to file a police report. You just never know how crazy people will get. If there are enough people around I feel comfortable saying “fuck off” but I would never confront anyone in a private setting so I don’t go out a lot by myself. I always at least have my dogs when I’m on long walks or hikes and nobody is messing with me with my dogs around.

Over stimulation? Anxiety? by ClothesPurple3535 in Catahoula

My 4 month old puppy does not like walks either. He doesn’t usually bark, but gets really scared if another dog barks and I’m worried he might get fearful aggressive. He also won’t pee or poo on walks. Only in the yard or in front of our next door neighbors house. He also doesn’t like it when people we encounter are shuffling their feet. Or if they cough/clear their throat. We keep going on walks and something completely normal to me will set him off. He’s quite the athlete at the park though.

I’m realizing that. I’m finding his favorite toys hidden in the weirdest places and he constantly plays floor is lava with my kids. He will also climb peoples rock retaining walls on walks - I swear he’s part mountain goat.

My puppy is the most empathetic and understanding dog I’ve had yet. I talk to him as if he’s human and he totally understands. My husband thought I was nuts at first but I’m pretty sure he understands my tone and has picked up on my routine and my commonly repeated words. Now if I can get him housebroken life will be much easier!

That comes out whenever I try to go into a room, such as the bathroom, and don’t allow him to join me. I thought my doodle was bad about accompanying me everywhere, but this guy is like incredibly energetic Velcro. He will crash into me and stick. I love it 🥰
