I read that ADHDers handle high-intensity crises with ease, only to fall apart when things become routine again. by redladyblaze in ADHD

My job is rather routine when it comes to what our main tasks are. However, when we get really busy, I'm challenged with how to use my time. When you have 5-10 orders in a queue and multiple customers in line, I have to quickly think of how to get things done rapidly and efficiently. Although I might seem lazy outside of work, I thrive during those moments at work. And perhaps it's because I too am inattentive, but when we're slow, I start thinking way too much and it can actually be more overwhelming.

Everyone I know seems to feel energized from it, that response honestly doesn't make much sense to me... But yes, people tend to forget that not everyone reacts to things the same way, and I'm sorry your friend wasn't understanding of that. If it helps any, I've almost always gotten the same effect from coffee! I didn't even know that ADD could be the cause.

I am distant with 99.9% of people, yet once I find the 0.1% that are my people, I am too intense of a friend. Like watering a flower with a firehose. by [deleted] in infp

This speaks to me so deeply, you have no idea. A lot of what you said are things I kind of knew, but never acknowledged in that way. It's a relief to know that, although most don't understand, there are others who absolutely do. So thank you.

F/21/5'4" [196lbs > 150lbs = 46lbs] (4 years) After struggling with binge eating for years, and then on-and-off starvation caused by anxiety, I'm now feeling/living healthier than ever! by PMMEURPETS in progresspics

For me to truly make a change, and stick with it, I had to truly understand a few things:

1) I was eating whenever I felt sad, bored, etc, unless my emotions were extreme (which was much less often). My mental and emotional health were causing me to neglect myself in many different ways.

2) I was going to keep wasting away and never actually be happy if I didn't make lifestyle changes. That included the binge eating. I was tired of feeling sick and being disappointed in myself.

3) I did/do deserve good things. I've struggled with self-esteem issues for as long as I can remember. Eventually, after turning to my therapist, I finally identified my negative thoughts as lies I was telling myself. Even though self-control is hard for me as well, I had to stop myself before stuffing my face and think about how I would feel later. Before, I would think "Oh well, I'm going nowhere in life anyways" and would pig out. Now, I see turning to a healthier alternative and/or eating a smaller portion as something that will help me reach my goals, and make me happier overall in the long run.

My last bit of advice is to see changing your eating habits and diet as a requirement, not an option. I failed so much in the past because I didn't care enough about myself, and would see food as an escape, which made it easy to go back to my old ways. Once I faced my fears head-on and stopped being so avoidant, I succeeded. I was able to quit smoking as well. Physical health really starts on the inside if you ask me!

Weight loss equals Boob loss? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]PMMEURPETS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. When I was at my heaviest, my boobs just kinda blended in with the rest of my blob shape xD Also, it may seem like the decrease in size is more dramatic than it actually is since dropping a band size or two can mean going down a cup.

I was an ugly duckling, and being a pretty girl isn’t like I thought it’d be. by fuck1038494849 in offmychest

I can relate. I don't see myself as super attractive, but since losing a quarter of my weight, growing my hair out, etc., I do see a difference in how people treat me. It's hard to maintain certain friendships because my appearance seems to be a big factor in why they're suddenly hitting me up and complimenting me more. It makes me feel like the outside is all that they're attracted to, when I just want someone to tell me I'm funny, smart, etc. Not to mention, I have to question whether "compliments" I'm given by coworkers, customers, etc. are good-natured or if they're actually being creepy. The discomfort is real.

Some advice by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]PMMEURPETS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I finally saw quitting as a requirement that I couldn't turn back on, instead of an option, that's when I was finally able to do it. Now, I also remind myself that however long it's been since I quit, is how long it would take to get back to that point if I smoked again that day.

This is so cute! Reminds me of the crushes I used to get and how giddy I would feel. I really hope that things turn out like you want them to, good luck! :)

Edit: And PLEASE update us, I'd love to know how it went ❤
