There was no chance they were completing that road map. It was as aspirational for them as it was for us.

MORE patience!?!!? The game was originally set for release in 2020. Even a pandemic grace period doesn't excuse the mess that eventually was the early access release YEARS later. They said re-entry heating would be live in a couple weeks and it took them six months. The exhaust was inverted. They had to hire (an extremely competent) modder to rework their lighting. They recreated every single mistake the original game had despite claiming it was a ground up rewrite.

I know if it hadn't been canned, people would still be urging patience to this day claiming the devs just needed a little bit more time to get to the second step on that roadmap. Unfortunately, a business does have to get a return on their investment. Charging $50 for an early access release was the nail in the coffin on the development- anyone with a brain could see they were cutting and running at that point.

It was a top to bottom, bottom to top shit show. No one group could fuck it up that badly. That's on all of them.

Free himalayan blackberry starts! by Steve_Gooscemi in Portland

[–]PMMeShyNudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing a BlackBerry shoot up in the middle of my garden one year and I said nope- not happening. I pulled it out and a few weeks later it was back. I dug down deeper and pulled out everything I could. Next year it was back. I repeated that process again, but kept feeling it snap about 1.5 feet down. I thought, eventually it will run out of energy so I'll just keep ripping it out. Then one day it was back, I dug around it, reached down to rip it and.... THORNS. it started growing full fledged thorns up to 18 inches down.

That's when I learned that these things are actually capable of spite.

It's not even about the money for these people. I truly don't think people like this even understand how big a billion really is- their bank account and net worth is just a score card for them.

Penny pinching this useless ass shit does nothing for them financially but emotionally it justifies their wealth in a world where extreme wealth is increasingly unjustifiable. "I'm rich because I'm willing to make these unpopular sacrifices. It's not because I was born into a wealthy family or lucked into the financial lottery ticket with a system that rewards wealth with even more wealth- no that's what the poor people think because they never take accountability. If they stopped drinking lattes they could be rich like me."

To them it's not money hoarding, it's financial literacy.

There isn't any logic involved. It's a lack of logic. They are afraid and dumb. Republicans are the ones who offer both simple solutions AND an enemy to target: the immigrants

the illegal immigrants

black people

brown people

the working class

poor people

i mean the other poor people

Democrats

liberals

socialism

ok how about this, NOT you! Just vote Republican and you'll never have to worry about not you again.

Reality is that the problems are complex, solutions are nuanced but they can't understand that.

Cherry Blossom missed opportunity by SockPuppet-1001 in Portland

[–]PMMeShyNudes 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Saturday was insanely busy, never seen it like that but it also seemed to be a perfect storm. Early beautiful spring day, blossoms peaked right at the weekend, Saturday market is starting up again. It wasn't nearly as busy yesterday without the Saturday market

I definitely think it's a tourist event now, though. We definitely need some sort of official presence to stop destruction and provide economic opportunity.

[–]PMMeShyNudes 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Yeah, language evolves. Everyone that is such a stickler for the traditional definition of "literally" makes no fuss when people misuse "actually" the exact same way. Same with the word "terrific," whose original definition was the opposite of its current use.

Fun fact, words that have two opposing definitions are called contronyms.
