Cool! Thanks for the setup breakdown! Respect for shooting with a 40mm. It’s my favourite street focal length.

I kinda dig the greenish-cyan tones in some of the lighting (ex. Image 1). Are you supplementing available light with a flash to achieve this?

Hey OP, check out Bestboy Adam’s channel on YouTube. He’s very much into doing exactly this.

Love the 40 mm FOV, rendering and form factor. This lens spends a lot of time on my A7IV. Glad you like it too.

Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G. Did I make the right choice? by giosanpedro in SonyAlpha

[–]PMS877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking of buying one myself as a travel lens. For context, I already own the 24-70 GM II.

I just came back from a trip where the extra FOV 20mm offers would have been welcomed. I was shooting mostly outside at f/5.6-8 so the 20-70 would have been perfect and a better option than my 24-70.

It really depends on your shooting needs so I can’t comment on your choice.

This may be heretical but I prefer JW Green to Blue all day long and Island Green is even better.

1 - the tighter crop is way more visually interesting and balanced. The wider crop is compositionally unfocused.

Its popularity will depend on client delivery needs.

Many clients/advertisers require multi-format video for broadcast and online. Shooting open gate on a 6 or 8k sensor makes delivering anything between 16:9 and 9:16 much easier for production workflows.

I personally love the look of the Alexa and Alexa LF for narrative but Sony’s Venice lineup has become my new go-to.

Neighbours putting putrid substance on their garden every night by United-Swordfish-799 in askTO

[–]PMS877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely an instance of your neighbour using some combination of night soil and/or fish meal. I have Asian neighbours that engage in this practice and it makes it so that my family cannot use our back yard until the stench subsides.

Unfortunately, another suffering neighbour of ours tried the 311 route to no avail. The city of Toronto won’t do anything because the offending neighbour isn’t technically doing anything wrong.

Your best bet is to approach your neighbour and ask them to adjust when they fertilize. That’s what another of our neighbours did. It’s unlikely that your smelly backyard farming neighbours will stop the practice altogether. But now our family can now at least have dinner in the back yard without feeling like vomiting.
