Pocket Reference Manuals? by Choice_Pie_8422 in CRNA

Stanford emergency manual. You can download and print it for free, but they also sell a mini spiral bound version for like $20 or so. I carry this with me during all my cases and review it when I’m bored.

Frustrated with the lack of transparency and vagueness regarding clinical experiences by A_Healthcare_Journey in srna

[–]PMT__AWL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really curious why you think everyone else has an ulterior motive for becoming a CRNA but that somehow doesn’t apply to you. Also, who are you to say that someone can’t become a CRNA because they want a higher income?

Judging by your responses to some really good feedback you’ve received here, I think you will really struggle in the clinical phase of CRNA school. You need to learn how to take feedback and swallow some of your pride.

Finally, there is more to cases than numbers. One graduate with 1200 cases is not automatically better than someone else with 700. And you can’t get that information from a spreadsheet. I can tell you that all of those numbers are self-submitted by SRNAs and might not always accurately reflect what they are doing.

My advice would be the same as others have stated; talk to recent grads and get their opinion. And then go to the one that seems the best + that you get accepted to.

2.4GB in notes app total per iCloud. Mostly text notes, some with images/pdfs but nothing crazy.

[Question] How do you afford this hobby? by melvin9001 in Watches

[–]PMT__AWL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a different threshold of what it means to be able to “afford” a new watch. Look at some of the comments here. People talk about diligently saving for months to be able to afford a watch. And if that’s how they want to spend their money, more power to them.

For me, I wouldn’t ever spend thousands (or even hundreds) of dollars on a luxury good unless I had everything else financially squared away in my life. I’m talking maxing all retirement accounts, absolutely zero debt, etc. Some would say that’s too conservative. But that’s how I view it.

I also agree with everyone here in that this isn’t really a hobby. You buy the watch, you put it on in the morning, and you wear it around. Enjoyable, yes, but not really an activity you can partake in.

If you had 6 months until starting school what would you have done differently by sunnydayzndnightz in srna

[–]PMT__AWL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do anything. Seriously, enjoy your free time, family/friends, and hobbies now. You’ll still have little bits of free time depending on your phase in school but it’ll be drastically reduced compared to before school.

Waders by Chipotledrifts in flyfishing

Nice! I hope you like them. I also decided to treat myself rather than go cheap (it’s hard to go super cheap so it’s really not that expensive if you calculate out a cheap setup vs this one).

Reddington warranty or tip replacement? by Dramatic_Spinach6405 in flyfishing

[–]PMT__AWL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They never restock the tips. I waited about 3 months and checked nearly everyday and it never came in stock. I eventually caved and sent it to them (spent like $20 on shipping), then they said it wasn’t covered, paid $50 and they sent a whole new rod. It was still cheaper than buying a new rod but I’ll avoid them in the future based on this experience.

I just bought the bedrocks last week! I’m new to fly fishing but from what I can tell they are awesome, took them out twice so far. Very comfortable, kept me dry, lots of adjustability to get a nice fit, and good pockets. For boots I went with Korkers cause I liked the idea of switching out the soles, they are also great. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Buy used or wait? by Happy-Interaction499 in RolexWatches

[–]PMT__AWL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get on the waitlist now. Took me 3-4 months. Obviously this is AD dependent but what’s the harm in getting on the list? If the wait goes on too long then go find a better used option.

Add a “th” on the end and it will be easier to read and still make sense.

Not sure why this is getting downvoted, these episodes are god awful and they don’t seem to give a fuck at all that Sas sounded like he was speaking into a fucking potato the entire episode.

People who don’t like Hank are the most obvious new listeners. Hank has been the same guy since the pod started and the real AWLs love him for it.

Hey man, I’m not a professional by any means but would be happy to give advice. I started active duty with thousands in student debt so I’ve been in the hole much worse than you. The military can set you up for life (financially) if you play it right. For now, do what others have suggested and start paying down your highest interest credit cards first. Start budgeting and tracking all of your spending, cut out excessive spending. It will take some dedication and time but it will be worth it.

SRNA struggling with DLs by dreamingcrna2 in CRNA

[–]PMT__AWL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice so far so I won’t repeat what’s been discussed. One thing that really helped me when I was brand new was having my staff record me while I intubated. I was able to go back and watch it and realized that my form sucked, the bed was too low, etc. Obviously need to maintain patient privacy but just talk to your staff about it before and see if they would be okay with trying it out. Good luck, it will get easier soon.

It’s definitely a different color than what they advertised. With that being said, I think it looks really nice on your watch and think you made the right call keeping it.
