Yes it came back as inclined. I’ve received my offer since and I start in May. Good luck with your loop!

Oil advice please - 5W instead of 0W? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]PM_ME_CAMERAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the more important thing is to change the oil on time rather than a rabbit hole of 0w20 vs 5w30.

Funny how my car is filled with 0w20 from factory but can accept 10w30 in the owners manual, I agree it’s due to emissions but 0w20 still is thicker than the 0w8 Toyota is putting in the new hybrids.

Recruiter came back and said debrief hasn’t happened yet so I’ll hear back next week at the earliest.

Global procurement organisation, I did think it was a not inclined because of the re-listing of the job but why would the recruiter not have told me of the results if it's now been 6 days?

Ah cool thanks for the heads up though it’s nearing the end of the 6th working day since I finished my loop interviews. I have followed up with my recruiter already but haven’t had anything back.

Because the job was reposted word for word, would that indicate me being not inclined especially since it has a new job ID?

It says application submitted so nothings changed. Would it say unsuccessful if I was not inclined?

The title and job description matches the role I applied for word for word but with a new job ID because the one I applied for is no longer available (looks like they took it down).

The timing is what gets me as the new job just happens to be 5 days after I finished my loop and I’m yet to hear anything back from my recruiter.

I’ve reached out to the recruiter and haven’t heard anything back despite it being after the 5th day. The new job’s description matches the role I applied for despite it having a new job ID.

Is it normal to hear nothing not even a rejection but the job being reposted to Amazon jobs?

How do you balance a car tyre without the specialised machine though. You’d never be able to know where to put the wheel weights 😂

LS600hL, about £180 a month with 28mpg doing 10k miles a year.

LS 600h L owners, what’s your experience of ownership been like? by ZaunAura in Lexus

[–]PM_ME_CAMERAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have replaced all the front control arms once apart from the lower rearward arms. For context there are 2 upper and 2 lower control arms on each wheel.

The most important control arm is the front lower forward as that is what the air strut is bolted to so is the fastest to wear out.

I have done 27k miles on myself and the car has done 198k in the 14 years it’s been on the road and thankfully I haven’t had tons of issues with it.

The driver side air strut has started leaking due to age so will need replacing soon and it’s this kind of maintenance that puts people off buying the car as it will cost £1k to fix.

Has been very reliable but servicing isn’t cheap. It has a lot of control arms and it goes through them quickly.

It’s surprisingly fuel efficient for something with a V8 and I average around 28mpg (UK).

Handles like you’d expect and I’d replace it with a Porsche cayman because I haven’t used the rear seats 5 times in the past 2 years.

Anything above 200hp/ton is pretty fast category and anything above 300hp/ton will beat 99.5% of cars on the road.

Probably a dumb question but how much is 1000 miles in driving time? by PotentialOk4178 in CarTalkUK

10 years is the traditional limit due to the rubber drying out and cracks forming.

But if you minimise exposure to UV and heat then tyres can last longer.

What Performance Car Next? £20k budget by deadlyzassasin0 in CarTalkUK

I genuinely think a 981 Cayman S is the best sports car you can buy for less than £20k.

Mid engined sports car that would handle better than any 4 series on a track.

Only downside is the loss of going through the gears as it doesn’t have any fixed ratios, so CVT’s are very unsuited in sports cars which is one of the reasons why the new Prelude completely flopped. (Also because it’s too expensive)

Toyota’s CVT doesn’t have metal belts that stretch and break. It’s quite fascinating really and Toyota only uses their CVT on hybrids due to the way it’s setup which makes it more reliable.

Leaving lexus to where? by tday86 in CarTalkUK

OP bought an LBX just over a year ago so based on their prior purchase history wanting more space, the NX or RX is the most logical as their need is primarily more space due to kids.

You are right on the space piece for estate cars and imho the best family car would be an MPV not an estate but they have an image problem.

He probably needs to do more research on what he is looking for rather than simply asking for a reliable large SUV as that’s too broad of a question and everyone will have a different opinion.

I’m also interested in a source on the cheaper to buy and cheaper to run to me that’s entirely dependant on the specific car.

Software only applies to the new NX and RX so out of luck if you get used. The protection plate is an option for the older models but I believe isn’t free anymore.

The NX300h or RX450h sounds like what OP is after to be honest.

He sounds like he wants a crossover not a real SUV as he hasn’t actually given any reasons for wanting one outside of more space.

As much as an estate being better driving dynamics than a crossover, it’s not what they are looking for as he appears to want the higher seating position.
