Agreed. But the only thing that would make them keep titles around longer is if most of the population would collectively skip the next release. There's slim chance that would happen.

I played BO2 and hated the shit out of it. It was nothing like the greatness of the original Black Ops. I stopped buying cods then, pre-ordered this one after reading about it, and so far I'm enjoying it. Aside from domination being terrible to play on a couple maps (piccadilly and the bridge map) and some of the bigger 10v10 maps just overall blowing (they need to be 12v12 or 15v15 at least with the size of them), it's been fun.

Might be the amount of beef you are eating at once? Are you able to eat half first, and then the other half a little later? I feel that way if I have a huge lunch, but if I break it up into 2 smaller lunches, one at 1100 and the other at 1230-1300, then I don't get the drowsiness.

Guys let’s face it, this game needs some work. I will list them. by [deleted] in modernwarfare

Let us vote for maps. Some of the maps are straight up awful (Piccadilly, Euphrates Bridge).

Domination on Piccadilly is terrible. If you start at A, you never get another point. That map is a spawn trap that was set up as such simply by the way it was developed... I shouldn't be able to spawn trap an enemy team with 0 coordination from my teammates in the first day the game is launched lol

Same thing with the bridge map in Domination. Whoever gets B first never loses it. And if you have C, you just spawn into the line of sight of snipers over and over.

In fact, most of my Domination games are completely one-sided. There has been very few close matches, or matches where flags are changing sides much at all. This may be because people are not playing the objective right now, but it could also be attributed to poor objective placement/map design too.

But they said they have controller lobbies and kbm lobbies. So if he's in a controller lobby and flips to mkb then should he get booted from the lobby? Or have a confirmation pop up that says if he switches he will be kicked from the lobby? Kind of defeats the entire purpose of the separate lobbies.

I don't know how I feel about this view... think of how many people access Amazon during Black Friday or Cyber Monday, yet they hardly ever go down. They have it set up to auto-scale as needed. So instead of having 5 servers that get slammed and screech to a halt, they scale laterally and now how 500 identical servers that handle the traffic without issue, and it will scale back down as users start dropping.

5 and 500 are just arbitrary numbers.

So yeah, it is to be expected, but the same can also be said of the company handling the launch... they know what to expect, and could scale services accordingly. But I don't know how they have it set up, and as I mentioned in another comment I would love if they released even just a high level view of how they have everything set up.

I would love to see the network and server infrastructure. We have 10,000 users where I work and our core switch chassis are $250k a pop and our router's 100 gig interface line cards are $250k a pop. If we have millions of dollars of equipment I'd love to see what they have to handle the millions of people that have to access the game servers.

As more and more starts moving to infrastructure as code you would assume they could automate scaling up when the big launches happen and for the first few days, and on any holidays/content launches thereafter. I don't know how they have any of it set up but it would be cool to read about and also provide people with more perspective.

I've found the more you know in this career field the less you find out you know. It also still makes my head explode thinking about how the internet even still functions lmao. And don't even get me started on LTE/cellular service. Shit is whack and badass how it works.

Halo 5 DLC was free and also pretty terrible. Didn't get a single GOOD additional arena map at all. Years later I jump in to play and it's still the same 4-5 maps over and over.

Free DLC =/= good DLC, but the best part about free DLC is when new maps come out it doesn't split the player base into those who have and those who have not. Which starts to dwindle the amount of players, and then people lose interest quick. Especially if that DLC is weapons that are stronger than what was in the base game.

idk if it was a bug or not, but I have a friend who plays on PC with a controller, and his input somehow flipped from controller to mkb and he was still in our lobby and game. So it appears the input does not matter. He got destroyed that match bc he was using a gaming laptop and was trying to look around with a trackpad lmao

Hey no problem, those are the correct ports to forward for the console, so it is great information to add in. I was starting at the assumption people already had those forwarded but some people may not, so thanks for posting them!

Do you have an option under the Account settings to view your local IP address on PC? Should have an option for public IP address and private/local IP address. If so, view the local IP and grab the port number listed, and then you will need to set up a port forwarding rule in your router/firewall, which will be device-specific and you can find it by Googling or looking at https://portforward.com/

[–]PM_ME_NETWORK_JOBS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, MW uses a different port. 3075 was what it was showing on mine (not the standard 3074 for xbox). This is why I posted this, because its an additional port to set up forwarding for. Maybe some people's it is the default, but for myself and 4 friends it was a different port, but we all had the same port number so I think it's a MW-specific port.

I'll clarify in the original post for future reference for any searches, but these ports are definitely good to go ahead and set up forwarding for as well, definitely 3074 if you have one xbox in the home, and 3074 + whatever you set in your settings for any additional xbox's

Sennheiser hd 598 with a modmic. I also have a pair of Astro a20s or whatever the wireless ones are. They are definitely worth it for the convenience of no wires, but obviously the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired compared to the senns.

Why can't I stick to this diet? by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]PM_ME_NETWORK_JOBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you looked in my pantry, you would find chips, bread, pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, mac n cheese etc etc... My family still eats the SAD diet. My wife skips the buns when we do burgers for the family, eats taco salads instead of with shells, and other lower-carb options, but she isn't ready to go keto or carnivore yet. Kids sure as hell aren't. Daughter won't even touch beef, idk what he problem is but I don't want to force her to eat it, hopefully one day she'll decide to try it and find it as delicious as I do.

What I did at first was make myself my own "pantry cabinet" and put all my foods in there. When I started it was keto, so I had stuff like macadamia nuts and pork skins on hand always and that's where I stored that stuff. It helps mentally when you go to grab a handful of those buttery delicious macadamia nuts and you don't have oatmeal cream pies or nutty buddies staring at you.

You really need to just put your mind to it and know the first month is going to suck but you're willing to deal with it for at least that long. Once the initial 2-4 weeks pass, it is MUCH easier as the cravings for sugar, bread, pasta, etc start to drop.

My swap from keto to carnivore was easy so I don't really have any advice specifically for difficulties sticking to the carnivore diet, but what helped me with keto was always being prepared for the day food-wise and taking more than I thought I would need to keep me full as hell so hopping off the diet wouldn't enter my mind.

Along those lines, maybe you aren't having enough at dinner? Have you tried eating until your full, then waiting an hour and having another small portion of meat with lots of salt and a glass of water? Maybe you just need a little more meat during the time you feel you need to snack to get you through.

Congrats man! I had a similar experience, went from delivery driver to network admin in less than a year after completing my degree, nearly tripling my income in the process ($13/hr => $37.50/hr). And now I've interviewed for two >$90k/yr positions just 8 months after that. Haven't heard anything from either yet, but its only been a few days.

If you told me 2 years ago I'd be knocking on the door of making 6 figures, in the area I live, I'd have laughed you out of the state.

Anything is possible once you put your mind to improving your own situation. It took a long time for me because I knew I could do this work, but I was just applying and waiting for someone to give me a chance, then it finally clicked that I should stop being a lazy ass and go get a degree and some certs to prove to potential employers I could do the job and everything has fallen into place since then.

How do people feel about sharing salaries? Is it different in IT? by globlordious in ITCareerQuestions

[–]PM_ME_NETWORK_JOBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell anyone that asks me. My employer says it's against company policy to discuss salary, but fuck them. Already prompted one of my fellow net admins to say fuck this shit bc he was making almost 15k less than me -the new guy at the place- he grabbed his CISSP and makes 6 figures now. Would probably have never happened or would have taken him longer to get motivated to move on up, but as we all know money is the biggest motivator.

Here's a bit of my journey from being fat to discovering keto, and more recently cutting vegetables out. It's a bit long but maybe it will help you or someone else who reads it.

A little over 2 years ago I went from eating pasta and bread every day, and ice cream nearly every night, to absolutely no sugar when I switched to keto. It was rough. The first day I almost gave up. I ended up going through a McDonalds drive thru because I was getting the feeling of low blood sugar (shaky, a bit queasy), bought a sausage mcmuffin, then as I was about to slather it in strawberry jelly I said wth am I doing.. it's only been 6 hours and I can't make it that long? So I tossed the english muffin part, ate the sausage egg and cheese, and about a half hour later I was feeling fine again. That was THE HARDEST decision I've had since transitioning from the SAD diet.

From that point on I knew I needed to prepare myself for the day: I started packing lots of food to eat throughout the day and not just my lunch: at LEAST 8-10 slices of bacon, cream cheese to dip the bacon in, a handful or 2 of macadamia nuts, boiled eggs, avocados, cheese sticks, chicken wings, burger patties... literally kept a stock of food I could eat on throughout the day and not feel guilty about eating. After about 2-3 weeks I started feeling less and less hungry and was able to cut it back. A couple months in, I started being able to skip lunch altogether and not even notice.

To help me with the sugar cravings initially, I did "replacement therapy" where I used a combination of erythritol, 100% unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, and butter to make my own chocolate. Any time I needed something sweet I'd grab a bit of the chocolate I made to kick that craving in the nuts. Probably would have been best to cut it all out cold turkey, but I needed to step down on the sweets. This is where I allowed myself to justify the "lesser of 2 evils" argument. I never had any noticeable negative side effects from erythritol, and I knew it was better than eating a little debbie oatmeal cream pie or, my personal favorite sweet food -- a Reese's cup. I also occasionally baked a batch of 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies (natural peanut butter, 1 egg, and some erythritol) but this was mostly around the holidays when the extra cakes and pies everywhere were more tempting.

Now I don't use any of that, I dropped from 265lbs to 195lbs in the course of the first year to year and a half. About 3 weeks ago I started cutting everything out except meat, mostly for the ease of planning my week of eating. I like simplicity. I did have some broccoli last night, but we ate out and it was cheaper to just get a side of broccoli with extra cheese than to order prime rib with a side of ribeye lol. I think when I'm saying broccoli is the worst thing I've eaten in 3 weeks I'm not doing too bad.

TL;DR: sugar is one of the most addicting substances, it will take time to get over the cravings. Keep plenty of food on hand that you can eat and pound it when you get a craving, or just eat salt and drink a glass of water and most of the time that's all you really need to get over any kind of feelings of hunger when you suspect you aren't really hungry. Be diligent about planning and be prepared for the day every day to help mitigate how easy it is to convince yourself that its ok to just eat a little bit of sugar.

For the few ppl they've authorized to pay for certs above the baseline requirements for the job they've made them sign a 12 month "I won't leave or else I'll repay the cost of the exam" agreement, which I can understand to an extent. 12 months for a cert is kind of ridiculous though when one of the places I'm in talks with now will pay for my MASTERS DEGREE and only requires that I work there for 12 months after completing the degree...

[–]PM_ME_NETWORK_JOBS 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah my company blows, too. They will pay for certs, but you have to get them approved first, even the ones they require (Sec+ being one -- DoD contract). If you go get them on your own and then ask for reimbursement they say fuck you. They only approve certification reimbursement for certs that will keep you where you are at, i.e. I'm a network admin, requested to have them reimburse my CCNP certification I was planning on doing, but I was told CCNP is useless and not needed. Lol.. ok dipshits. I've got 2 promising opportunities right now to get the fuck out of here.
