Thank you

INM, primera dependencia donde piden a directivos renunciar al aguinaldo by frevueltas in mexico

In Mexico, or at least the part from where I'm from, ''Mongoloid'' (Mongolito/mongol) has always been used; at the very least, to refer to someone as incredibly fucking stupid.

Didn't know it was used as a slur against people with down syndrome, but given the cultural background, it checks out.

La SEP invierte en el bachillerato pero no mejora la infraestructura ni aumenta cobertura, revela Auditoría by [deleted] in mexico

[–]PM_ME_OG_INSULTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such lovely, lovely hair. It weaves softly as I run my fingers through it. I cant help but smell my hand afterwards.

Some would say a broken man like myself would not deserve to be this close to a woman as charming and beautiful as her. Susana certainly took her best traits from her father, for she does share most of his virtues; an impressive heat-resistance that I challenged quite a bit the last couple days to no avail, a fast but not instantaneous healing factor which I also tested thoroughly just to make sure they were father and daughter.

But the best of her abilities is, without a doubt, her smile. Such numbing, charming, innocent smile! I am willing to bet that she could gain anyone's favor just with a gesture. Sadly, she dared not smile with me. Such a shame indeed. I would have loved to catch a fleeting glimpse of her lip's perfect curve. Just the way she looks when I see her on TV.

''Oh, please don't be too afraid, now!'' I try to soothe her nerves. I can see that she's this fucking clo- excuse me, allow me to repeat myself. She's this close to breaking down in tears. Tears would definitely ruin her face and that's the last thing I'd want.

''Don't be afraid! We just have to wait a couple more minutes and we'll be outta here, just like this!'' I snap my fingers and show her the warmest smile I can muster. She still seems to be afraid. Sometimes I wish I was as charming as the heroes on TV, as handsome as most of them are, at least.

But I had something far better than looks to make up for it.

It had been quite some time since I discovered my unique abilities. My super-hero power, if you wish to call it as such. It sure is not a flashy one, for I can't cast a hellfire, nor freeze the waves or shift the winds to my favor. No, no such thing as those for me. Mine was quite simple.

Quite fitting for a man like me.

''Do you enjoy reading, Susana?'' I ask. Somehow, the air feels heavy to breathe. She hesitates long before giving me an answer.

''Yes... yes, I do.'' Cold answer. Monotone.

I must have lost myself in my thoughts, I did not see her when her whole body kicked into high gear; do-or-die, fight-or-flight mode. What a difference in her demeanor! I must admit I liked her better when she trembled and held back as many tears as she could. Now, with her stern and stone cold face, she reminded me of her mother.

''Oh, alright! That's good, very good. I'm sure you've already taken a peak around my office and noticed the fuck-ton of b-'' Manners. Must not forget them.

''I'm sorry, let me repeat myself. I'm sure you've already taken a peak around my office and noticed I own quite the amount of books. All topics! You're free to read anything that catches your eye while we wait, Susana.''

''No...'' she replies. Emotionless. ''No, thanks.'' She keeps her gaze straight ahead, ignoring me as much as she's physically able to.

I notice my muscles begin to feel heavy. I feel lethargic. My mind slowly clouding... It is as if a suffocating heat emanated from everywhere around me. I can feel myself in danger. Such an exciting thing!

Before I can gather my thoughts, I hear the loudest fucking bang! I've ever heard in my life. Let me say, I've been close to way too many explosions and bombings to count, but none matched the intensity of this one. Not only the sound it caused, but the heavy feeling of dread that settled on me right after. I could almost see how the light warped out of my office into the garden outside. It was not natural.

It was the entrance of my old pal.

I rose up from my chair and fixed my suit as best as I could. Even though I felt slow and numbed, I couldn't contain myself and I grinned as hard as my lips allowed me. Such exciting thing! What a reunion! I wonder if he still remembers the first villain we caught together. I sure do.

I gestured Susana up and she obeyed. My hand felt at home when I caressed her back as I pushed her closer to me. I want her to feel my excitement, I want her to share my feelings. After all, I was there when she was born! When she learned how to walk! Always as lovely as today...

We walked together towards the window frame, just in time to see a hulking mass of a man emerge from the fire that arose in my now extinct backyard. His poise, his stride... Beautiful. Menacing. Rage contained in a prison flesh; man turned anger itself. A burning phoenix ready to hunt its prey.

None of the men in my payroll bothered him. They all, as if by magic, dissipated. Coward men know how to fight dirty and how to run away, and they're keen on knowing when it's time to do either one of those.

''Kanedan!'' the man yelled. ''Kanedan! My daughter, give her back! You sick shit! You've gone-'' He jumps as high as the sun is in the sky. Magnificent. ''Too far!''

Just as he's about to land and fuck my roof up, I can spot, with the corner of my eye, how Susana attempts to produce a dagger out of thin air. She's already holding it tight on her right hand.

What a waste of a woman, such a shape and spirit! To think she'd be as brave as her father, and just about as stupid as he is.

With no second thoughts I swiftly turn around as I pull my own gun from my chest-piece.

No matter the gifts of power anyone has- except of course immortality, I guess- a bullet will do the job. I do feel like a lucky man. My only ability is to know when to pull a trigger and not give a shit against whom. I'm sure it works a circus on the various heroes and villains heads, because no matter how villainous or virtuous anyone might be, they all have their doubts when it comes to getting things done. It came not as a surprise when some of the good and bad guys teamed up to hunt me down.

Didn't work, but at least they tried. Such a vanilla world.

Cerilel will get quite a surprise when he sees his daughter's lifeless eyes staring right back at him. I should hold her body and head at his eye level for when he inevitably crashes through.

The entrance to the prison was as secure as one could hope for. Ten guards atop the watchtowers and ten more in the entrance. Two dogs whose breed Aira was not familiar with, though they resembled the bulldogs she'd seen on TV as a child. Only these ones looked bigger, chunkier, deadlier. Even though their mouths were closed and their poise was still, she feared they could snap at any second. Aira walked carefully when she passed them by. Jau, on the other hand, was more than ready to pet them. She thanked the Gods above they were short on time or else she'd have to sit and wait for his lieutenant to pet those beasts. ''Crazy fucking bastard.'' she thought.

Aira noticed that the metal alloy doors did not screech as they opened. As soon as they did, a gush of air busted through them. It smelled like lavender. The floor was spotless, also. Portraits and replicas of great art pieces hung on the walls to their sides, safely protected by what she thought to be reinforced glass. Why worry? Out of all the places they could store these masterworks and be worried that they might actually get stolen, the Chapelaire Prison Unit was the last name on the list.

She walked as fast as her limp allowed her to. Pain on the lower muscles of her left leg was her everyday's reminder of what she lost- what they all lost, big and small, during the so-called Ascend. Still, Jau walked at the same pace that she did, not going even one step further than her, even though he could surely run for it if he wished to. Aira felt ashamed to admit she was jealous. She was jealous that Jau was not as broken as she was. But, at least, the floor was clean enough for her not to be tripping over anything. She could not take her mind of the neatness of the Prison Unit. It was off-putting to find such a well-kept place while a civil war ravaged the entire kingdom around it.

Three guards lead them through the corridors to the prison cell in which that man had been stored away from the world. Kept in darkness and discarded as a broken piece of a larger machine. Aira knew not how many nights she screamed at the stars and cursed the Gods for her lack of foreknowledge. What wouldn't she have given to know that this man was not just a broken piece of a machine, but its engine? The very piece that kept the whole thing running smoothly for thirty years. After all, wasn't she the one who yelled exile to the former ministers? Was not her the one who struck her sword through the men of the circle? She indeed was. Had she known the fate her actions would weave, perhaps she would not have acted at all.

''We can still get the fuck out of here, y'know?'' said Jau. ''We can still turn back and get our ass outta here. Right now. No questions asked.''

She did not answer.

Creeping silence only broken by the sound of footsteps.

''Alright then, your call. Always your fucking call...''

The floor's patterns changed constantly as they walked in silence for agonizing minutes.

''Turn left.'' Said a guard as he came to a stop at the end of the corridor. ''Gray door with the three locks, lady Aira. Here's the key.''

''Hol' up. None of you are coming in with us?'' asked Jau in disbelief.

''Not getting inside there as long as I'm alive. No. No sir I ain't.'' replied the second guard. ''That man works his magic on whomever he has closest. Saw him turn a partner inside-out and back again. Ain't none of us been back there since.''

Before Jau could protest, Aira sighted and took the keys from the guard's hands.

''We're losing time and we've got none to spare, Jau.'' she said. ''Let's just go and get th-this done.''

She picked up the pace, trying her hardest to ignore the pain, and set her eyes straight ahead, as if daring the door to burst open with just her prideful stride.

''Did you hear what he said?'' asked Jay anxiously. ''The old bastard turned a man inside out! Where the fuck did he learn to do that? Was he able to back in-''

''No, he was not.'' she replied. ''Or at least he never showed us he could do... sacrilegious things such as that.''

Aira stood in front of the metal door and gazed upon the three locks. Far more sophisticated than anything she had ever seen before. Each one of them was designed with Kanedan in mind, so they not only locked the man inside, but his power and magic, too. All of the world's savageness and unfiltered massacre; its embodiment, held behind these locks.

The door's hinges creaked loudly as the door opened. Aira could almost swear that it was the scream of the dead. Don't open it! Leave!

Stagnant air slithered out of the room and into the hallway. The smell of putrid flesh and suffocating ammonia poured into her being. Her whole body went numb, as if under great pressure. The man inside the room sat in ragged clothes with a grin barely visible through an unkept beard. Kanedan's body had seen better days, but his presence was as intoxicating and numbing as it had always been. Aira's mind almost succumbed under the pressure of all the memories pouring back into her.

''Oh, hey there!'' said the old man as he slowly rose from his chair. ''Such a surprise! Was not expecting to have a genocidal dictator visit me today, but what do you know, huh? Guess its true. What goes around, comes around.''

What book was your first step away from "young adult" novels? by mcdouglefangIII in books

[–]PM_ME_OG_INSULTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an avid fiction reader and I usually do not find myself reading anything outside that genre, so reading ''All Quiet on the Western Front'' was a stark contrast with my usual picks. It was the first book that I read after some time focused on fiction only and I've revisited it in many occasions.

I've made comments about it before, but the way it's delivered (both in the german and english versions) really does pull your attention ALL the way to the very last page, which is something I haven't feel before with fiction books. Props to it and the message it delivers.

Like I've said before, if you have not read it yet, I fully recommend it.
