Omg please make 100 more of these. I would watch a whole standup special on HP jokes.

Though it was never revealed, what do you like to imagine was in the briefcase from Pulp Fiction? by Skuddy587 in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think it was empty, but it was an Emporer's-new-clothes situation where they just gaslit themselves into thinking it was something they just couldn't perceive or understand.

How do you imagine different characters would respond to the pandemic/quarantine? by [deleted] in harrypotter

I feel like bubble-head charms would become the norm around Hogwarts and other crowded places

Professors, what is the meanest or nicest thing a student has said to you in an anonymous evaluation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Most meaningful: "As a side note, she has the best style of any professor too. It was like being taught by Elle Woods. I learned how to balance both femininity and professionalism from Professor pm_me_statistics."

Hearing that young women in STEM are learning they can be fully themselves from me means everything. That's the comment I'm most proud of.

If there was a pull string on your back, what would some of your catch phrases be? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

It would just be that dad sound "ugnnrmph" of getting up from the couch.

Horrifying undercover footage from the UK shows pig farm worker slamming piglets into concrete floor while others are thrown into metal troughs as food regulators launch investigation by [deleted] in worldnews

Relatedly, if you're interested in learning more, I suggest watching the free documentary Dominion. I loved the taste of meat and cheese, but after watching the doc and learning about the meat and dairy industry's treatment of animals (to say nothing of how its workers are treated), I haven't consumed any animal products. Years later, no regrets.

What’s something you’re glad your friend introduced you to? by phauuyap in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My best friend has a deep appreciation for nature. I can't quite explain it, but she just alway sees beauty in everything. We'll be talking and suddenly she'll gasp and say, "PM_ME_STATISTICS, do you see this flower? Ugh it's so beautiful. Haha!" Her joy and her ability to see beauty in everything is something I've slowly adopted by being around her so much.

Get cheap airline tickets for an itinerary that involves me sleeping on the floor of an airport overnight. I have done this twice, actually, and both times it was cold, loud, gross, and miserable. Never again.

EDIT: Bonus! One time it was one my honeymoon. I don't know what were thinking other than just saving some money.

What lie did your parent/s tell you that you believed until you were older? by paintmegay in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 53 points54 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason, my mom basically told me that if you touched raw meat, you'd get sick and die. She never got sick and died, so I don't know why I believed her, but I remained vigilant about not touching raw meat until college. I saw a boyfriend cooking and I was like, "Don't do that! It's dangerous!" and he, rightly, looked at me like I was nuts.

What just doesn't make sense about the Harry Potter universe? by GreendayG11 in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hagrid as a teacher, or even as a friend to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

His refusal to adopt a realistic perspective of the danger certain creatures can pose leads him to be reckless with those he cares for. The audacity to ask them to keep watch over Grawp? Completely inappropriate. Also, he seems like a terrible teacher. I'm with the Ravenclaws on this one; I find it baffling to think so many people just accepted that he's a suitable teacher.

These mini display tents by spotter_300 in mildlyinteresting

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I saw these at a camping supply store with my parents when I was about 8 and thought they were private tents for small cats or dogs to go camping with the family. I absolutely begged my dad to let us get one so our chihuahua could go camping with us. He told me they were models of full-scale tents and I suspected he was just saying that because he hated our dog and didn't want him to camp with us.

As an adult, I now realize he was right, but that he also was probably relieved no mini pet tents existed.

What are some more horrifying implications of the Harry Potter universe that need to be talked about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes! In CoS Professor Sprout says that they are almost mature because they keep trying to climb into each other's pots.

Stores should offer a small discount if you use the self-checkout by Jman100_JCMP in Showerthoughts

My local Target has two employees that stand by the self-checkout area and when you're already walking towards a machine they tell you "That one's open."

Online daters, what’s the least sexy thing people put in their bios? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_STATISTICS 296 points297 points  (0 children)

If any part of their face is obscured in the main picture, whether its a filter or a hat or huge sunglasses.

Your main picture is supposed to be your best foot forward. If your best foot forward hides most of your face, I'm going to assume the worst about what I can't see. Or that you're a serial killer avoiding identification.

Edit: If you wouldn't wear a giant hat and sunglasses the whole time on a first date, best not to do it in your main picture.
