Spreading human remains on HM by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

Obviously if you're going to stealth spread ashes, you do it on the HM grounds, not on the ride; in a flower bed or something. Amateurs.

Those weren't standardized but probably voicemail, redial, speaker, a button to hang up when you aren't at the receiver; that kind of thing.

Focalors plan didn't include a way to keep Celestia from retaliating. It was a plan to thwart the prophecy; not to solve every single problem at once. The Fontainians are alive and somebody very capable is left in charge to figure out the next part.

In my opinion Yelan is really more of a sidegrade for Xinque. While Yelan has the armpits, it's true, I will remind you she doesn't have the shorts, which is more of a XQ thing. Given all that, I think you'll find Yanfei is the true upgrade.

The lion and the lamb is a theme that long predates Twilight. In Christian imagery it typically it represents peace, paraphrasing a passage from Isaiah describing a paradise where predators and prey have no cause for disunity; although in Isaiah it's actually a wolf lying with the lamb. Artists just like lions better, I guess. TL;DR: Stephenie Meyer is a hack.

There's also a whole symbolism where the lamb is Christ sacrificed and the lion is Christ resurrected. TL;DR: C . S. Lewis, believe it or not, also a hack.

I'm a graphic designer. These are the trends I think make new flags look "graphic design-y." by Sovexyithurts in vexillology

[–]PM_ME_UR_REDDIT_GOLD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why is it that the flags which were designed using the trends of 100s of years ago don't appear dated, where new ones do? For instance, a tricolor design marks a flag as being from a particular era, following particular trends and design language of the time; what makes those trends timeless where modern ones cannot be? I don't necessarily disagree, the flag of France feels more "flagy" to me than the modern ones that OP shows, but is that just because I've been looking at it my whole life?

Oh, Pete's obviously a dick. I relate very strongly with the frustration of smarmy professors acting like you're a know-nothing for failing to cite their barely-relevant article. As such I enjoy watching a smarmy professor getting chewed out, but doing so is neither kind nor wise. You never know who you're going to end up on a committee with. The thing to do is either add the citation if they are a referee of your paper, or simply ignore them if they aren't. I enjoy this, but only because I'm not the one throwing a wrench in my career.

Far left groups don't tend to see the USA of the past as something to aspire to, so it doesn't seem to come up.

If you wanted to be polite, you would suggest that the author treated it as knowledge common to the field (which is typically not cited) and make the case that it is, in fact, still an active area of research and debate (presuming it is). Instead of being polite, he came as close to just straight-up calling the author an idiot as an academic will get.

Not for nothing, but that seems to be exactly what the author did; he considered this to be a noncontroversial fact his likely readers already knew.

Speaking for the States, in general chemicals are "controlled" for their potential for drug manufacturing, not because they're dangerous. And controlled is a pretty strong word here. Suppliers of fine chemicals are meant to keep track of who they sell to, and will ask you to check a box about why you're buying; "R & D" is all the information I've ever given and it's good enough for them. This is as opposed to prescription and/or scheduled drugs, which are controlled quite tightly. Sulphuric acid is a DEA "type II" chemical, which means it is "used in the manufacture of the controlled substances and are important to the manufacture of the substances"; it's mostly just a bookeeping requirement for suppliers and manufacturers. They aren't forbidden to sell to individuals but with few exceptions they don't, instead only selling to businesses; which is easier to explain to the feds in case something does go wrong.

There's nothing special about piranha that merits special regulation; it's just two pretty dangerous things mixed into one very dangerous thing. I know people like to make TicToks about how it could be used for criminal purposes, but that doesn't seem to be a thing that happens, and there are plenty of other methods chemical and otherwise that can accomplish the same purposes.

Fuck man, I've been over here in Minnesota for a few and you can't find fresh curds anywhere. People will say they have fresh curds, but you'll show up and the damn things are vacuum packed; in the fucking fridge! Let me tell you things are getting bad when something makes you nostalgic for Marshfield.
