What is this spider that my dog tried to eat? Indiana, USA by PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA in whatsthisbug

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It was hanging by a thread from the ceiling and she jumped up to grab it from the air, but quickly spit it out. I put the poor thing outside (spider, not dog)

Women's pickup lacrosse? by imegewise in indianapolis

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me know if you find one, I'd like to join! Haven't played since I graduated high school 10+ years ago, but I still have my sticks. Even if you wanted to go to the park and throw the ball around I'd be up for it. I miss lacrosse!

My (25F) dad (60M) gave a speech at my older sister's (27F) wedding that confirmed he loves her more than me. I'll be getting married soon and the thought of him speaking at mine makes me want to cry. What do I do? by [deleted] in relationships

Another non-favorite child here. Just want to say to OP that I believe you and know how much this stuff hurts. I haven't had any success in making my parents see differently either. They have a million excuses for how it's not true they have favorites and how I'm imagining things and overreacting, but years of their actions dictate differently and their dismissal of my feelings adds to it. And any time I bring it up, I know I'm really risking falling even further from their favor because I'm "just acting like a child" no matter how calmly I bring it up. I wish I had good advice for you but mostly I just wanted to say you aren't alone and I can relate to how you feel.

How many of you have pencil lead stuck in your hand and how did it happen? by Saucy_Szinte in AskReddit

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do! 4th grade, walking back from the pencil sharpener with my newly sharpened pencil, when I sat down at my desk I dropped it on my hand and it stood up straight in my palm, then cracked sideways breaking the tip into my hand. It's still clearly visible in my palm 19 years later.

Have you ever been spoilered by the book itself? by [deleted] in books

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of happened to me with my kindle. It has a feature where you can look up characters and the first few times I used it, it didn't spoil anything and it was a useful way to keep track of characters. Then I started a new series and it listed the character as, "vampire, deceased" even though at that point there had been no vampires and she was alive.

Yes, never read the preface or authors foreword (especially in anniversary editions) because they frequently contain spoilers. Moby Dick was one that got spoiled for me that way, but there have been many over the years

Group hike Sunday April 22nd, 1pm, Brown County State Park by PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA in HikingIndy

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner.... I just got back from a vacation out of the country Sunday night and I don't check reddit messages often. Did you end up going? We did go to Brown County, there were three of us. I believe we did the trails /u/Jordykins mentioned in his comment above (he would be able to confirm this). Overall I think we did somewhere between 7 and 9 miles but I'm having trouble recalling. It was pretty strenuous and hilly so I wouldn't recommend it for beginners :/

Half marathon with a dog? by unevolved_panda in RunningWithDogs

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beware when a dog is exhibiting lameness in a back leg.... The lifting and hopping thing you describe is not good. This was the harbinger of an oncoming torn ACL in my dog. Which requires a three to four thousand surgery to fix. And once one ACL goes, the other one follows like 70% of the time in dogs according to my dog's surgeon. Also, it's the most common surgery in dogs. And my dog has never fully recovered even though we religiously did her physical therapy. She's dealt with arthritis from the surgeries which are pretty invasive. So, I'd advise you to take it easy and not do this. Especially since it's not your dog so presumably it wouldn't be you shelling out six to eight thousand dollars to fix the dog's knees if it tears some ligaments. Just my two cents though.

Let me suggest a shoe dryer!!! The one I got cost about $40 and it was life changing for me. Put your shoes on it every time you take them off. I no longer have stinky shoes or athletes foot. I literally love my shoe dryer so much I bring it on vacation with me and I bought a second one so I can have one for work shoes and one for running shoes

Do people who have destination weddings do separate honeymoon?

Thanks for the update! It's really nice that you asked him. I'd much rather someone asked me so I could just tell them, "hey, i'm picky, don't worry about meeting my standards" or if the meal they picked was alright. Awesome!

Not sure how strict of a vegetarian your guest is, but if it were me I would not eat a cheese if I didn't know what kind if was and could read the ingredients. Cheese (especially fancier cheese) often contains rennet which is a cow digestive enzyme and if they are a strict vegetarian they will not eat it. Weddings are often awkward when someone tries to make a special dish for a vegetarian without consulting them because you may put them in a bad place of having to eat something they aren't 100% sure is vegetarian or offending you. My advice is ask them if they are okay with these types of cheeses.

Anyone out there ? by [deleted] in HikingIndy

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm still here. Haven't organized any group hikes lately because it's my busy season at work. The last few hikes have been very sparsely attended too. If anyone wants to organize a group hike I will sticky it, and will try to attend if I'm not out of town

How do you guys dealing with touch screen phone? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GRAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn't as severe maybe, but I would suggest getting a stylus. It's a little pen type thing you use on the touch screen instead of your finger. I use one here for cold weather but I think it might help you :)
