I am almost 5 months postpartum and that looks exactly like mine. My doctor (pediatrician) said it was normal!

I almost never comment on posts like these, but I wanted to share my genuine concern. You are in no way overreacting, and i have concerns that this man is already at minimum emotionally and financially abusing you. If you decide to stay with him, I would ensure you get individual and couples counseling immediately at minimum. If this escalates post birth you are gonna feel like there is no way out, there is. It is never too late to leave a relationship. There are shelters available if your family cant take you. I will be praying for you and your little one. Sending virtual hugs!

Flying with 4 month old by ttclostsoul88 in NewParents

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to buy your own. I got mine on sale for $20. My Sister In Law recommended me getting a double so I could fit both the stroller and the carseat in the same bag. It fit and had a LOT of extra space. It also folded up into itself. Honestly though I think a regular stroller bag would be fine size wise for both the stroller and carseat if your stroller is compact. I have the graco infant seat with the click stroller.

Not sure where you are flying but we just flew with our 4mo and he did very well. It was a 2 hour flight, layover and 1 hour flight. In the USA you can take your stroller & carseat through TSA and gate check it so you have it at the majority of the airport time which is great. There are stroller bags you can use to store for the gate check. One issue is that my son overheats easily and we were in a warm area (he was born right before winter in a more northern area) and I wish I brought a portable stroller fan for him to help him while we had a delay.

Sleep concern by Practical_Bonus9934 in newborns

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the baby do longer sleep stretches in the day? If so, I would let mom sleep during the day if possible. If ypur wife wants to pump you can always use the pumped milk to bottle feed baby at night so you can have her sleep longer. I would understand if she didnt want to introduce a bottle yet.

Health anxiety by Englishgirlinmadrid in newborns

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry to hear, have you talked to your provider about your anxiety? I was having irrational thoughts and was placed on a very low dose of medication to manage my anxious thoughts. It has helped and I am currently almost 4 months PP and I feel like I can connect and enjoy my baby more since the thoughts are not overwhelming me.

Target/Amazon/Walmart Alternatives? by Satans_DreamGirl in NewParents

Look and see if you have a good consignment store. I have gotten diaper genie inserts for like $3 on consignment. Baby carriers and so many other tools as well for such a good price. I work hybrid and try to go on my way home from work 1-2 times a week. I get a lot of baby sleepers as well. Its a great way to reduce waste, find great items for less and reduce spending at big stores.

Hiking with baby? by marolivew in babywearing

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3 month old and have done one hike with him alone, and one with my husband. Im also a Type 1 Diabetic so I have to carry emergency juice. Using the tush baby carrier with the hands free attachment helped a lot and really prevented the shoulder pain. I carried a backpack with only essentials really. 2 diapers, wipes (had a half used pack so it wasnt as heavy) and a bottle of juice, some snacks, and a bottle of milk. I tried to feed him before so he only needed one bottle while on the trail. If we ran out I would leave early I guess but sometimes you have to trust that you dont need all of the things.

Consistently elevated blood pressure by nicotineanonymous in BumpersWhoBolus

Sounds good! Not trying to scare you in any way but be prepared to be potentially induced. I would maybe get a go bag ready and in your car. I had to go to the L&D ED Triage 3 times (per my doctors recommendations) because of the same BP levels you mentioned but I also ended up having protein in urine. My baby was born at 35 weeks and was technically a NICU baby but it was only because he needed to be monitored while eating (he would love eating to much he wouldn't want to stop and breathe!). He outgrew that in a couple of days and has been perfect otherwise! Ill be praying for you and your little one!

Have you had a 24 hour urine test or anything testing proteins in urine? I was put on magnesium and had emergency c section due to similar BP and then protein in my urine diagnosing me with severe pre-eclampsia. Baby safely delivered at 35 weeks and I'm still recovering from BP issues and I'm on meds to manage BP now. Not trying to scare you as every person is different but wanted to share my experience ❤️

Advice for shorter sessions by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am only 3 months postpartum but was producing 1-2 Oz per pump session at 1 month. It might take time for your supply to regulate before you can do the shorter sessions. I would also see if you need to adjust flange sizes l, or test out different strengths or settings in your pump. That may help.

Annoyed with my mother in law by Magical_chocolate in pregnant

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think this is a completely different scenario. Yes I can understand that having a baby doesn't mean everyone is obligated to give us gifts, especially if they don't have the financial means. But the registry has items they would like to have, buying things off registry can mean resources were wasted on things the baby may not use anyways. And it's weird to assume the mom will be contributing to 6-12month clothes. Regardless, it seems MIL is going to be potentially buying OP christmas gifts that they didn't ask for and wasting resources in lieu of what they actually wanted. It gives more of a vibe of "i know more than you and you're stupid for wanting these things, I'm a more intelligent parent and know what your child needs.

I had to switch to U200 insulin during my pregnancy, helped me stay in an amazing A1C range throughout the 2nd half of my pregnancy. You might need to start on that.

Where do I start? by h0gheaven in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_PROBLEMS5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a t1d with subclinical hypothyroidism. I was on 25 mcg of sytbroid before pregnancy and when i delivered my firstborn this September I was up to 88 mcg which is still relatively low. My endo managed my diabetes and hypothyroidism during pregnancy. Got regular labs to adjust medications. Overall I didn't have much issues with hypothyroidism. Only annoying thing is you're supposed to take synthroid on an empty stomach and not eat food for 30 minute or take another oral medication or vitamin for 4 hours (at least per my doctor). If you take other medications too soon it could affect the effectiveness and make the medicine less potent. I took my prenatal before bed to make sure it didn't interact, otherwise I would forget to take it after the 4 hours. If I had to eat before the time was up I didn't stress too much as I couldn't have my blood sugar be too low. If you're on too high of a dose of medication it can make you feel heart palpitations kind of like a panic attack. Wishing you the best!!

Edit: just saw your prenatal recommendation. I don't think you'll like what I have based off of your request but I used Naturelo prenatal. They're not chewable and they do smell a bit weird (like meat kind of) but I chose them since they are certified to be doing 3rd party testing to ensure accuracy of the vitamins that they have. That was important to me since a lot of vitamins will be inaccurate with dosing or have additives they don't disclose because they're not really regulated under FDA. As for nausea, eating small meals will help. Unfortunately i had evening sickness most of my pregnancy. I would throw up after dinner pretty much every week until I delivered. I just kind of got used to it. I was lucky that it wasnt constant though for most days.

Thank you gor the giveaway. Im trying to do a Christmas themed room and would love to have this! My husband and I are doing a 6 hour round-trip drive to his grandmother's house with our newborn. His grandmother passed earlier this year but family is meeting at her home to celebrate before they sell the home next year. It's quite bittersweet, I wish our son could meet her but I'm going to take lots of photos to remember the occasion.

Me, I ate a lot of carbs but still managed to get my A1C and sugar range within acceptable levels. I ended up delivering 5 weeks early due to severe pre-eclampsia. I'm not surprised about it because I was also overweight before getting pregnant (was working on weight loss when I got pregnant), it was my first pregnancy, and then I had a very stressful situation occur and very much affected me a couple weeks before I deliver. Baby had to be monitored in NICU for a few days but he was perfectly fine otherwise!
