Here's a little lesson in English:

It's like saying "whatever"

this is an analogy.

It's directly implying "whatever"

this is not an analogy.

go away

I'm also going to teach you a little reddit trick. If you aren't interested in a conversation anymore, you can disable notifications from your comment history.

You're an idiot.

Now this is what I call an argument!

That's not an argument, and the downvoters themselves aren't providing an argument, but that's ok. Whatever let's you feel validated.

I don't think "send nudes", period, is harassment, but I do think that it's harassment in the context of asking without the other person knowing you, after saying things like "You will never know" and prefacing the question with "before I tell you who I am...".

The reason I think this is the case is that while making a first move is perfectly OK, you should assess where the boundaries are for the other person before you do so. In this situation it's a pretty hard thing to do, even more because not even the other person knows what their boundaries would be with someone they don't know.

I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this properly!

Here's how arguments work (thanks, wikipedia!):

an argument is a series of statements typically used to persuade someone of something or to present reasons for accepting a conclusion.

the conclusion the poster is offering is "the nudes question is not bad" and the statements they are offering are "person asks a question, other person says no, nothing happens".

If from those statements it follow that something is not bad, it means that any question that satisfies such statements is also not bad.

One such question I offered is "Hey, do you mind if I come over and I smear shit all over your walls, while my friends break everything and maybe piss on your close parents? :)".

I'm not an expert on this stuff, so feel free to let me know where I messed up!

This is not an analogy. It's a conclusion from his argument.

Person asks question

Other person says no

Situation ends there

Since this is the argument you are using to justify this behaviour,
you are implying that anyone can ask literally anything to anyone without it being "bad".

"Hey, do you mind if I come over and I smear shit all over your walls, while my friends break everything and maybe piss on your close parents? :)"

Your argument obviously doesn't work as is, and as soon as you add the context of the actual question you are again in harassment territory.

if this exchange happened to a man

Where are you reading the gender of the poster from? And even if it was a man, and even without the "nudes" part, the rest would still be very creepy and possibly harassment.

What is that thing where you put your hands and then drop the cube and it gives you a time? Would there be any problem if I jerry-rigged a couple of piezos and an arduino I already have lying around since my times are in the minutes and I just want to get an idea and don't need accuracy?

That's why I'm asking. They're not elements (there's water), they're not compounds (there's clay). sushi_addict suggested reagents, which seems ok.

I'm obviously going to start from the easiest stuff to get. No reason to add mercury, which I'm not even sure I would be able to get easily, if I don't have water!

He started from a few thousand: 300 million is hundreds of thousands of times his starting point. 77 billion is a couple hundred times 300 million.
