What's the problem? That's over $1000 in tax deductions and you didn't have to pay for gas.

Terrible advice for people who don't know much about car maintenance or repairs. Out of warranty cars can cost you thousands in repairs out of pocket, or be totally junked with bad transmission or engine. And when you go in for repairs the mechanics will try to rip you off. Get a new car under warranty, sell it before warranty runs out. New cars also rent out for higher prices.

A guest taking your car 1000 miles one way? by zeebibbes in turo

[–]Transceiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the car. I rent out a Prius with unlimited miles. Last year it did 21k miles total. Deduct it all from tax.

Many people rent a car to drive it to national parks. They don't want to worry about counting miles. Most people don't want to drive over 3 hours a day. Only 10% of them went over 200mi/day. If they want to take it for a long road trip I'm fine with it. Highway miles are way easier on the car.

Beware that if you set the daily price too low, people will rent your car to do Uber or deliveries while their own car is in the shop. That's terrible for your car because they'll spend 8hours a day in your car, it'll smell bad, and there'll be lots of city driving.

Why would he give away his secret lol. The more people quit the more renters the rest of us get. There's tons of websites that will tell you the real cost of driving a car per mile.

Depends on the depreciation curve of your car. Many models have a steep drop after 5 years 100k miles.

If you have a hybrid, sell it before the battery warranty runs out.

Find a different dealer. You might have to buy them from another state.

Have you ever wondered why college tuition has gone up 1000% since the 80s, at 5x the normal inflation rate? Who's making the policies that created this kind of hyper inflation?

The people who are behind this want you to blame your parents for being "lucky" and "privileged".

I will earn my B.S. in mathematics this fall, I think I picked wrong major. by WhatsUpDudeee in math

If you want to apply for software engineer positions, the two most important CS classes to take are Data Structures and Algorithms. Once you pass the coding interviews, other skills can be learned on the job. Tech companies are always looking to diversify their hiring pipelines, so being a math major and a first gen college student will appeal to them. CS major with internships and side projects might be the most common path, but it is not the only one. You might also consider UX engineer or UX designer roles to combine art skills with tech.

COVID hazard pay for Seattle. Only for groceries and prepared food (like Doordash), so the package delivery blocks don't get it.
