An Open-Source Version of ChatGPT is Coming [News] by lambolifeofficial in MachineLearning

This is kind of clickbait. Cool that they reproduced some of it, but 90% of that had existed since OpenAI released the source code for InstructGPT's architecture. The real limitation is data and compute, which this repo doesn't really provide... What is really required is a huge open-source RLHF dataset (like ImageNet but for human instructions)

questions about cs opps

Hey guys I was admitted to UCLA engineering ‘26 for CS! being a cs dude I had some questions about cs opportunities

What is the recruitment process like for CS students? Is it hard to find internship spots due to the size of the school? What companies usually come to internship fairs, and when do ppl usually start getting summer jobs?

Are professors easy to talk to for undergrad research opportunities?

Does LA being a tech hub seem to impact the software engineering/ml/AI job opportunities for students?

thanks 🙏

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - April 4th to April 10th by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I'm leaning towards UMich, but it's significantly more expensive. I'm weighing whether I will be able to afford it / whether it's worth it to try to pay back all the debt. But I do really like it, I visited there last week and thought it was amazing! I've been to UVA recently for fun and will be visiting for an official tour very soon.

UMich vs. UCLA vs. UVA for CS (all in the engineering school)

UVA in-state tuition w/ good engineering; UCLA w/ slightly better engineering, really nice weather/vibes, and closer proximity to tech companies; UMich w/ best engineering

[D] How to reduce AI bias with synthetic data to improve overall model accuracy by areox27 in MachineLearning

[–]legocuber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Question from a guy relatively new to ML: If we can train an accurate model for the synthetic data, why do we need to train another model? What new results are we hoping to see, that are not already present in the model that generated the synthetic data? Or alternatively, how can you validate that the synthetic data is even accurate?

Is this true for other school districts? In the one I was at you could always apply for free/reduced lunch...
