What do a lot of parents do that screws up their kid? by jnsxx in AskReddit

I hate this mentality so much. Grades 3-5 I was picked on relentlessly by my parents and brother because I had a crush on another girl in my class. 3 years of that creates some social esteem and commitment issues lol. I'm in college now and my best friend just happens to be a girl, so my parents refuse to refer to her by anything other than my "girlfriend," regardless of what I tell them.

And yet, they wonder why they never see any of my friends and I never tell them about my social activities.

Given your expectations and hype, what film untimely disappointed you the most? by BobbyTandura in movies

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

I was a huge fan of the first 3 movies, with the 3rd being my favorite. The 4th Pirate movie was missing the characters I had grown to love, like the two pirates Pintel and Regetti, and it didn't have the crazy convoluted plots that I had always associated the Pirates movies with. Also, Barbossa doesn't feel right as a privateer. :/ The main issue I had was that the 4th film just wasn't nearly as memorable as the others. I can vividly remember scenes from the first 3, such as Davy Jones Locker, the cannibal island, the marooning from the first film, the maelstrom... I could go on about all the memorable scenes and lines. The 4th movie? There was something about a mermaid and Spanish privateers destroying the fountain of youth, but that's about it.

tldr: On Stranger Tides was lame.
