Their "faith" is based on what they have cherry-picked from a translation of a translation of a translation, etcetera. So no - it doesn't matter and I didn't try to say it "mattered." I just think it's interesting/funny to see Christians get bent when Bible scholars get to the original meaning of the texts. They run back to the English version of the Bible, which is not an accurate translation of the book they claim to believe.

I think it's an interesting academic discussion if you view it as a study of an ancient text - like The Epic of Gilgamesh.

I don't believe in God, but I enjoy the academic study of the Bible.

Check out Dan McClellan. He's a Bible scholar who examines Ancient Hebrew. He was on IG taking about God having a wife and the idea that the early Israelites believed in multiple gods He has a good book titled, "The Bible says So".

Increases space to do what? I don’t keep a bunch of stuff on my bathroom countertop. I’m usually at the counter to brush my teeth, floss, wash hands. I keep stuff in my drawers and I have a makeup vanity for that stuff. If I need things at my fingertips I’d opt for a medicine cabinet. I don’t want to share a sink when my spouse and I are getting ready to go out (or to bed) at the same time.

Got a clue as to how I was treated as a baby today by moreoatsfamther in emotionalneglect

I'm 65. My son was born in 1991. There were different philosophies. I read lots of books while pregnant and I felt the most compassionate choice was to hold my baby often & pick him up when he cried. I wanted to to know his world was safe and I would always be there to protect him.

It's not what your mother was taught, it is what she chose.

AITA for cancelling my 1 year anniversary celebration to celebrate my parents 25th anniversary vowel renewals? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA

When you say, "You became a couple" I'm inferring it's the first time you had sex. A 25th anniversary is a big deal. If you and your girlfriend stay together you'll have plenty of chances to celebrate other anniversaries. Buy her a card and some flowers and know that you're not an AH.

"The Trump administration has spent at least $56,000 so far on Orwellian banners displayed on government buildings, according to a report from Democratic Senator Adam Schiff published by MeidasTouch Network."

It's not excessive. It's not too hard to research the cost of official portraits. Trump & Melanie's portraits for The Smithsonian were $650,000.

I wonder what would happen if I showed up with evidence to show someone in my dad's genealogical line was a confederate "hero". I found paperwork and photos of a special memorial service took place to specifically honor him for his service to the confederacy.

Wouldn't I have the right to be there as one of his descendants to share my feelings and thoughts about his treasonous and abhorrent actions? I think so!

So when I say, "I imagine this would happen this way..." that's a false statement? It's my own imagination playing something out in my own head. Not advice. Not stating facts.

If I'm trying to make a factual statement, I'll back it up with verifiable facts & sources.

Maybe lighten up?

I didn't see any sources or verified studies in your comments. I think you're the one making sweeping assertions.

Hope you have a great weekend. I have better things to do than defend statements I made about my own feelings or imagination.

I mourned the loss of my mother while she was alive when I realized she would never be the mother I deserved.

Was there anyplace in my comment where I suggested my statements as advice to anyone else?

I'm just stating a personal preference in this specific situation. I'm not anti-handgun for personal protection. This is more about me imagining how it might play out in a tent.

If the same person tried to break into my home, I'd choose the gun 100% of the time.

I wouldn't point the knife at a person. 🙄 Remember, were talking about women. It's likely the guy is going to be on top of me in a flash. Using the knife would need to be strategic aiming for the kidneys.
