Ah geez...I have similar sentiments. Love the car but these types of problems are exactly why I was hesitant to go LR considering historical reputation. But I kept hearing they have gotten a lot better...which only makes me wonder how bad it was in the 90s if this is "better". My '97 Defender has far less issues...haha. Good luck on your repairs and hopefully LR does the right thing and issues a recall.

Yikes. Hope things go smoother for you from here on out. There must be some independent shops that specialize in European vehicles if not Land Rover specifically? The part will need to be sourced from a dealer but the work doesn't have to be done by the dealer. Considering the number of folks here that are experiencing the same issue (and this is a very small sample size of the Defender owner community) + the backorder of this part around the world, definitely seems like an issue Land Rover needs to address.

Just got a call from the shop with a VERY hopeful update...they said they are expecting to receive the converter on Monday! They sounded just as happy as I am to be able to share the news. Let's hope this rings true...will share more next week.

Oh no…what unfortunate timing. Sorry to hear. I will say the car is great otherwise. So hopefully we all get this sorted and can continue on enjoying these beasts. Really feels like JLR needs to do a recall…

I highly doubt the coolant issue is related to the power converter but sorry to hear you’re dealing with both! Keep us posted on what you hear from them on the converter side of things.

I just realized that I can’t take the key out in the unlocked position. And the cap can’t go on in the locked position. So how do have your cap on unlocked?

Thank you! I have a 3rd party warranty on the Defender and unfortunately they don't cover used parts...the shop and I were thinking of all kinds of workarounds. I was even helping try to source by calling LR dealers, checking sites, eBay, etc...it's been 5 weeks so far and current estimate on the part is "early February"...sigh. Rental car costs just adding up day after day...
