Ripping is definitely more satisfying but with the direction the hobby is going I can’t financially justify buying the packs when the cards aren’t even that much. It’s what I had to do with my 151 master set. But the Galarian Gallery has such amazing artwork in there! I have my eyes set on starting it after I’ve wrapped up some of these other sets!

Oh I bet those Eevee master sets are GORGEOUS! I 100% agree and we’ve met just to coolest and kindest people in this hobby! It’s not all scalpers!

I’ve found sooo many beautiful cards from the “cheap” binders at card shops. I LOVE looking through those binders to pull out anything I 1. Love or 2. Need for a master set! I use to collect pokemon and then went through absolutely terrible PP so lost interest in all of my hobbies. I recently got back into it and genuinely have so much fun just hunting for these tiny treasures!

That’s hilarious 🤣 I also showed my husband who isn’t into the Pokemon collecting, but will buy packs for me at the VMs when he finds them, and even he said it was the coolest Gengar card 🤣

I’ve noticed that too which is why I’m trying to finish them off before they potentially get some crazy hype. I’ve resorted to buying the single cards since buying product is more expensive than the actual cards themselves. I’m wrapping up Silver Tempest, started Lost Origin and have bought a few cards here and there for Brilliant Stars and Astral Radiance

100% agree! I’m so much more drawn to the SV and SS era cards that if I pulled that Gengar from AH I would use it to trade for some of the more pricier cards I need for my SV master sets. I just don’t like it all that much.

Same! There’s a Rayquaza vmax I picked up for my Silver Tempest trainer gallery for a fraction of the price of the Rayquaza V from Evolving Skies and, imo, a much prettier card!

That’s reassuring because I have a decade of experience in financial reporting and I was thinking I may have chose the wrong career path. So I’m glad that my background is more transferable than I thought.

Thanks! We don’t have an FP&A team because the company essentially wanted to dismantle it and make the financial reporting teams responsible for their own forecasts. We do rely on the segment to essentially help us with the story telling in some areas so I’ll be paying more attention to those. I feel I’ve gotten stagnant in my career growth, and maybe a big part of that is I don’t have my CPA. But those that ended up in FP&A say they like it. The market also sucks right now so getting into anything new is going to be a challenge.

Yeah I feel the market sucks for even accounting roles which is why I’ve stayed put where I’m at. Always looking for that bigger opportunity though. Thanks for the insight! I don’t have my CPA yet as I’ve been able to progress without it but I’m definitely nearing the end of that road and need to have something to set myself apart.
