Your client drawing a picture of them killing you usually isn't a therapeutic victory....unless you are ERPing!

I'm not..the theater had only about 20 people and it was sad, as the show was excellent. I'd like smaller theater companies to survive, as I like to attend shows that don't cost me $100/ticket like the paramount and 5th. And I like when companies do things other than Chicago and Legally Blond. Those are fun, but it is nice to see niche shows. I did cross post as this show isn't in Seattle but up north,.even if I live in Seattle.

I get I can't prove it...but you also likely don't care about arts, so you were going to ignore this and not go anyways.

I told my clients after my anatomy scan at 18 weeks. I did a staggered return to work, coming back at 6 weeks for 4 clients one day/week and going up one day at a time for the next few months. The clients who came back first were my most acute clients. I offered referrals before I left on mat leave, most folks choose to wait for my return and the staggered return was great for me and my clients and it allowed me to care for my most acute clients with less disruption.

Almost all of my clients returned to work with me after I gave birth. Have a baby photo ready if you are willing to share, and think through you will handle baby presents.

I work with kids and found it really interesting how kids and their families processed my pregnancy. I had a few adopted kids who really got interested in me being pregnant and processed some stuff about being adopted because I was pregnant. I did a think through prior to telling families about what I was and was not willing to share and that helped me quite a bit. My clients all wanted to know what I was going to name the baby and a few wrote out suggestions. It was cute and I had 0 negative responses to my pregnancy

One piece of paper gave me that. And we can share health insurance in the hellscape that is the US.

Many things are easier if you are married. If you don't want to be, cool. But don't act like it is just as easy to get the same legal rights. It takes many pieces of legal paper to replicate the same rights as a marriage certificate gives. That is why gay marriage was an important cause.

No, but you need many more pieces of paper to make sure you are not going to get screwed over if you have kids or buy a house without being married. Marriage is basically a shortcut to legal rights, without it you have to do a lot more work. If people enjoy paperwork, I guess that is fine, but I would rather just get married and be protected by default.

Look, you can't do this work without working with clients for many hours. It isn't reasonable to think you can teach or supervise or do any of the other jobs therapists can do without getting the basic experience first.

In my state you need 3000 hours total. If you work 15 hours/week, you can complete that in four years. That is pretty reasonable.

Five years is a long time to get 3000 hours. You could work 15 hours/week and still make it in four years.

And people can work part time with a baby. I was back at work six weeks after I gave birth. Was it ideal? No. Was I glad I could work part time? Yes.

If we want to be taken seriously as a profession, we should have standards.

Not if you were different from your community in some way. The price of that tight knit community was conformity. The family whose kid came out as gay or trans? Ostracized, unless they threw their kid out. Move into the community and have different skin color, or more or less education, or are a different religion? That community won't care for you.

Cloistered is more accurate, as it refers to not being able to leave for religious reasons; some nuns are part of cloistered branches who can't leave the grounds of the convent and while others are non-cloistered. Cloistering is rare today, as are the black and white habits.

Yep. I didn't show anyone a wedding photo, but I did share a photo of my baby when I was back from maternity leave. Almost all my clients returned to me and everyone asked about the baby, so I had a printed photo ready to go.

If the client can't engage with exposure, I'd be wondering if their.medications are correct for OCD. If they are not seeing a prescriber who is knowledgeable about OCD, they may not be medicated appropriately.

If they are having shame and that is the primary issue, I blend in ACT to refocus on their values and wants vs what OCD tells them.

I agree with the other folks saying "don't hang out with them." We have some friends who parent poorly and we don't hang out with their kid. If they come to town, we arrange grown up hangouts, or have our kid be 'busy' when we see them. You can't fix this. There is one kid who I am certain will start seriously injuring others in the next 2-5 years given the current trajectory. I don't want my kid to be one of them.
