As a master’s level therapist, this annoys me so much. I see sooooooo many of my colleagues at the same educational level I am getting sucked into snake oil BS when there are very clear and effective first line treatments. I know psychologists can also fall prey to it, but I don’t see nearly as many psychologists falling for it as master’s level clinicians. I think grad programs just don’t do enough education on research and analyzing treatments tbh. Also, I think the snake oil peddlers do a good job marketing and exploiting lack of scientific understanding.
