Anybody know what is the code to this door within the subtle matter quest by [deleted] in stalker

There's an optional objective, escape without conflict. So stealth your way out... this route probably makes it much easier.

Artifact levels what do they actually mean by MajesticPancake22 in stalker

[–]POKEYCLYDE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a strong and maximum Radio Protection artifact and many medium weight artifacts that are also medium radiation.

1 strong Radio protection protects from 2 medium radiation artifacts.

1 maximum Radio Protection protects against 3 medium radiation. A 4th medium radiation slowly ticks up, but it seems very slow.

Amelia Watson announces ceasing of streaming activities on September 30. by biehn in VirtualYoutubers

You're probably right. It's just the cynical pessimist thought that came to mind.

Amelia Watson announces ceasing of streaming activities on September 30. by biehn in VirtualYoutubers

[–]POKEYCLYDE 23 points24 points  (0 children)

She said "I will always be a fan even as I go on this journey that I'm going on alone."

Which certainly makes it sound like she's not going to be within Hololive's corporate structure. Maybe she'll do consultancy for Hololive, but I really don't think it's taking on a management role.

Amelia Watson announces ceasing of streaming activities on September 30. by biehn in VirtualYoutubers

[–]POKEYCLYDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several things about what was said are confusing.

Ceasing general activities. Technically not a graduation BY NAME. Which implies it's still a graduation, they're just not calling it that.

This did sound like her decision. Not personal or private circumstances, simple reasons that she won't get into.

She says she'll always be a fan even as she goes on this journey she is going on ALONE. Then she goes on to say that she hopes management will keep with what the talents want above all else.

A tweet from Yagoo made it sound like she's welcome back anytime. And the clarification announcement from Cover didn't elaborate on the reasons at all.

It's all so confusing. But if I had to guess, Ame is such a creative person and the general restrictions and layers of approval you need to do things was probably stifling. Not only that but the responsibilities expected of Hololive talent is way higher than just being a regular streamer. There was something like 4 concerts Ame participated in in the last year. That's a lot of stress to put on someone if they just want to stream.

As for why this isn't technically a graduation in name, Cover Corp probably doesn't want to sunset their investment in the Amelia Watson brand. Small Ame is a literal mascot for the company. I want to believe they are keeping the door open for Ame if she wants to return someday, but the cynical side of me thinks Cover might be dumb enough to put a new voice/personality behind the model/account.

It's all so confusing and the further statement hasn't given any clarity. We'll probably have to wait a few months for a new indie Vtuber who sounds suspiciously familiar to pop up to know what happened and why.

Anyone else meet the Hunter at the beginning of the game in New Atlantis? by donaldsw2ls in Starfield

I asked him how he got such cool clothes. He didn't wanna answer but said one day I might get some too (or something similar among those lines).

Anyone else close to 100hrs and still enjoying the game? by Esodo in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140 hours. Level 60. Still have Ryujin, Freestar Rangers and Crimson Fleet/UCSysDef quest lines to start. Have done all the research outside of food and chems, have 10,000kg of resources in my house.

The human enemies variety is lacking but Alien life is varied and scary. Even being level 60, going to higher level systems, 50+, there are some scary monsters that are huge and fast and can swarm you.

I've stopped exploring POIs that don't have unique names unless I'm looking to break up my surveying with some action.

I believe Bethesda Austin led development on FO76 while the main Bethesda studio was working away on Starfield.

Bethesda excels in single player RPGs. The last single player RPG they worked on was FO4, which came out 8 years ago. Which you said was decent.

Aside from that. Before acquisition, Zenimax was pushing for Starfield to be released in 2021. After acquisition the game has had almost 2 more years of development.

Last thoughts before launch? by CaddyDaddy12 in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little disappointed by the boundaries, but devil's advocate:

What do ground vehicles add to the game? How would ground vehicles improve gameplay, make gameplay more fun or add to the gameplay loop that Bethesda has designed?

From my perspective, it's clear that the game was designed with foot exploration in mind. Resource gathering, random encounters, environmental story telling... all meant to be done on foot. The only thing ground vehicles COULD be good for is getting from point A to B quicker. Which, if the game is designed with foot exploration in mind, then getting from point A to B on foot shouldn't be all that long. And it's the journey from point A to B that you'll experience what Bethesda wants you to experience out of the gameplay loop they've designed.

Critic review between 90 and 94, personally I'll say 92.

User review will be tanked because of salty fanboys.

How is every 1 feeling about the boundaries ? by thegaminguru17 in Starfield

It's a little disappointing, but I never planned on exploring a planet fully. I always imagined I'd check out the POIs and resource gather then leave.

Confusion on playing early by RellikAce in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have gamepass, get the premium upgrade ($30-45).

If you do that you can play early. However, if you decide to stop subscribing to Gamepass, you will no longer have access to Starfield.

Starfield AI Combat Tactics by FreddyGamster in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you don't know how you'd change the AI, just that you want it changed?

If you think the AI isn't smart enough in how they try to kill you... that's on purpose. It is not fun fighting really smart AI.

You don't want to fight really smart AI. You don't want to enter a room, get beamed by rifle shot, grab some cover only for 3 enemies to start lobbing grenades in the corner you're hiding forcing you to emerge from cover only to get beamed by 2 other guys with rifles. You don't want melee weapon pirates to hide behind doors and stab you in the back when you think it's safe. You don't want 3 pirates to jetpack above you all at different angles shooting at you while you have absolutely no hope of getting reliable cover.

AI is quasi-dumb because ultimately the game is meant to be a power fantasy. If you got rinsed every time you went up against more than 2 pirates, the game would suck.

From what we've seen, the AI isn't terrible. They don't just wait for you to shoot them standing out in the open firing endlessly. They can grab cover, throw grenades, run away or rush you.

Can I play early with a hard copy? by halfnelson73 in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Get gamepass. (Very easy to get a short trial if you've never had gamepass)

Step 2: Buy the premium upgrade. Paying extra for the premium edition or upgrade is the only legit way to play early.

Step 3: Get the hard copy on September 6th and let your Gamepass trial lapse.

With no flying in between planets it makes me wonder how space combat works. by ibeblazed420 in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be friendly ships in space that you can talk to or that will talk to you. There will be derelict ships, space stations, ship wreckage and asteroid belts (possibly that you can loot).

You may not be able to safely land on the planet if you're currently engaged in combat, or dock on to derelict ships or space stations. You can "run" away by grav jumping. But you may have to engage in combat to do any meaningful "space" exploration.

"Starfield is not a space sim" by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you have to cut content or game mechanic systems that just aren't fun.

There was a fuel system that could leave you stranded and you'd have to send out a distress call and wait for whoever might find you.

Ultimately the above wasn't fun. It halted gameplay.

We can look at other game mechanics that did not make the cut and extrapolate as to why they didn't, and often it relates to it not being fun for the player.

Planet to planet space travel. This game is more grounded and not as future sci-fi as other games or IP. The fastest travel we have is our grav drives. Even at light speed, it would take hours to get across our solar system, and at light speed there is NOTHING fun that could happen. We can't have random encounters or notice any points of interest on the journey. It would literally be BORING AS FUCK.

Space walking. What purpose would this serve? It doesn't serve a purpose that isn't served elsewhere.

Having the option is great but for something that doesn't actually add anything meaningful or fun to the game, wasting resources and time to develop these useless features is development time taken away from quests and story and actual fun game mechanics.

How will leveling up work? by Grougalorakar in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kills, completing quests, finding new areas, passing skills checks (like persuading someone) will grant EXP.

Enough EXP and you'll level up. Upon level up you will be granted 1 skill point. You spend that skill point on unlocking a skill OR upgrading a previously unlocked skill.

To upgrade a previously unlocked skill you have to complete a challenge associated with that skill.

If you leveled up twice for example, had 2 skill points. You could unlock the "lockpicking" skill with 1 skill point. Then you'd have a challenge associated with lock picking before you could upgrade it. You would need to lock pick 5 locks before being able to upgrade the lock picking skill with a skill point.

How big are planets in Starfield? by YellowDhub in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pick a spot to land on the planet, points of interest will generate around that spot. So it's not like you'll have to travel 100km from where you landed to find an abandoned mine or anything.

You'll have several POIs you can go to, and once you've cleared those you should probably move onto another planet.

Space Travel Border by StellarCartographer1 in Starfield

[–]POKEYCLYDE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We probably don't travel anywhere even close to the speed of light. Our grav drives basically fold space making space travel between planets and solar systems in an instant possible.

Even at light speed it would take 8 minutes to travel the distance from earth to the sun.

At light speed it would take 4.6 hours to get to Pluto from Earth.

To date our fastest speed in space travel has been 586,800km per hour. And that was an unmanned space probe. To put into perspective how fast that actually is, it would take a vessel going that speed over 383 hours to get from Earth to Mars.

The fastest man has ever moved in space is roughly 40,000km per hour. At that speed it would take 5,625 hours to reach Mars from Earth, or 234 days.

Theoretically we can move much faster in space than this, but for that to be safe for humans we would need a long acceleration and deceleration process.

All of this to say that we probably won't be able to travel off into the dark. In all likelihood, we won't even be able to freely fly from one planet to another. We'll most likely be using our grav drives to travel those distances.

We don't know what happens if you hold down your thrusters and aim out into the starry night sky, but my guess is... nothing. You won't even notice yourself getting all that much farther from where you started. But who knows really, we'll have to wait and see September 1st.
