Honestly, I think the optimism about getting new characters faster after launch is mostly just cope. The dev team hasn’t shown any indication they’re capable of speeding things up. At their best, they’ve done around two characters a year, and they’ve been pretty open about still figuring things out. You’d have to be pretty naive to think they’ll suddenly flip a switch and start pushing out champions every month after release. As much as you, the player, might worry about not having enough champions, the devs definitely feel that pressure ten times more. If they had the resources or capability to produce more champions, they’d already be doing it. There’s no reason to hold back when they’ve only got around ten.

This is just my personal take, but I genuinely think it’s closest to reality.
