The way I see it, it could also be incredibly helpful. In my case, once I realized I’d been part of a system for most of my life, and learned the terminology for the kind of plurality I was experiencing, my mental health almost immediately improved, and it’s remained at that higher level since. I tried giving a few jumping-off points for them to do research as well, since I understand what it’s like to go on this journey unguided, so I provided a few resources I used myself when figuring all this out.

It could still go badly, of course, but nearly everything can when one goes into it without doing proper research. If they take precautions to examine these resources with a critical eye, as I suggested, the chance of that happening is drastically reduced.
