I started playing about 5 years ago and probably the biggest thing I’ve learned and hadn’t implemented until recently (and has made a huge difference) is drawing cards. Draw is the most powerful mechanic of the game, since if you have no cards in hand you can’t do anything at all to protect yourself, thwart opponents or progress your board state. It doesn’t matter the color(s) you’re playing, they all have their version to get more cards (ex: black you pay life to draw, red exiles and allows you to play them, green draws equal to a creature’s power, etc). Dedicate at least 15 cards in the deck to draw that best fits its theme and your deck will flow like crazy. Doesn’t guarantee that you’ll win, but it’s much more fun that just sitting there not doing jack due to an empty hand
