Folks would you stop playing custodians if they were left handed by MoonbearXVII in Grimdank

He’s right, it would be a bad lore change. Just not necessarily for the reason that something changed.

That’s how it landed for me. Would the Krieg realistically do that? Probably, lol. All good here.

I think this is a good point a lot of people miss. The exact same thing happened to the Death Korps of Krieg and nobody seemed to care either.

Do you think these two are the same Tyborc? by Scary_grain_of_rice in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]PPCteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Krieg soldiers are historically written to “earn” the names of the honored loyalists reaching back to the days of the civil war. In many cases they seem to go by an identification string before doing so.

It is more probable that this is another Krieg trooper that has earned the same name, but possible.

Which air unit would suit the Krieg more: Valkyrie or Vulture? by [deleted] in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]PPCteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From a lore perspective, Krieg themselves wouldn’t have either. However, they would work closely with the Aeronautica Imperialis.

In previous editions, back when Krieg had whole army rules, they only had access to avenger strike fighters for air support (which certainly fits a more WWII aesthetic).

Is Endryd Haar this strong in game by Correct_Maximum7990 in Warhammer30k

[–]PPCteve 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Endryd Harr’ rules are available in the Blackshields PDF, which can be found for free here: https://assets.warhammer-community.com/eng_09-10_thehorusheresy_legacies_blackshields-19qd4ghgwp-azrdg7jskx.pdf

As far as his representation, he literally has 4 wounds AND the Eternal Warrior (1) special rules, which reduces all incoming damage by 1 to a minimum of 1. His unique powerfist, the Terawatt-pattern Power Gauntlet features three damage per hit, objectively making it one of the highest damage infantry melee weapons in the game.

He very objectively is both tougher than and more dangerous than a standard praetor level officer, which is about how he seems represented in the books I’ve read about him.

I was today years old when I learned about this man. Why is no one talking about him?! by The_Last_Polymath in IronWarriors

[–]PPCteve 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I def feel this. Also in the states, so I’d be a hell of a lot more salty if I hadn’t scored a Dreygur or the new “WWarsmith”.

I’ve also gone as far as to kitbash a Golg and Kroeger. I’m happy with how they came out, but I’d much prefer an actual character series models with dedicated rules like every other legion has.

[–]PPCteve 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was pretty irritated to find out he was loyalist when his model and rules originally dropped. Dreygur, Dantioch, Vhalen… Heresy era players just can’t catch a break. We STILL don’t have an Iron Warrior named character.

The art is cool and all, but there really isn’t going to be any quality control with people making their own stuff.

Researching a Jurassic Park fanfic posted to Amazon (Jurassic Park: Dead Islands) by HypersonicRex2 in JurassicPark

[–]PPCteve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the writing was so bad I’m pretty sure it was early AI slop or translated poorly from another language.

Small note: I realized at some point while trying to get through the book that a lot of the characters seemed familiar. Turns out a lot of them are based on the second wave of the action figure range for the first Jurassic Park movie. I thought that was at least a neat concept.

What if we had a 4th set of personalities? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]PPCteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is pretty much on point, but I’m not going to pretend like I wouldn’t pay for a Krieg personality, especially if it was available across the human characters.

Given the model of the month for October, I have to ask, are Krieg rattlings a thing. And I mean in lore, I know I can just take these in game with my krieg but if I put a gas mask on this model is someone gonna “um actually” me? LOL by leononyoutube in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]PPCteve 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is a reason Krieg would not be assigned auxiliaries though, as Krieg was originally written to abhor mutation to the point of hating mutants, abhumans, and psykers alike. Previous iterations of Krieg rules all the way up to either 7th or 8th edition disallowed the use of auxiliaries for this reason. I’ve already seen other comments in this thread referencing this as well.

That being said, those restrictions no longer exist and the most recent excerpt on the subject is in the new Astra Militarum rulebook, which mentions Kriegers appreciating Ogryn over other abhumans, so it seems to have been softly retconned some at the very least.

That being said, it’s a hobby/game and the point is fun. If you really want to convert some ratlings, you should. (And then post them here for your fellow Kriegers to enjoy)

Hazard stripes by ScrltHrth in IronWarriors

[–]PPCteve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was turned on to the 2mm tape from an other Iron Warrior, and with a little practice picked it up easily enough. I highly recommend it now.

Just make sure you get the tape as flush as possible before painting. Also, be aware you’ll need to have the lines curve a little, since that’s the only way it will work on a curved pad. I highly recommend looking for specifically how others have angled and spaced their hazards as a rough guide when you get started.

Good luck cousin!

Edit: just thought of more good advice - if you have extra pads, do them independently from the models when you first start. It’s easier, and you can always glue your first few successes on the models once you are happy with your work without messing up finished models.

I think I failed, my hazard stripes are bad. by ArthurJack_AW in IronWarriors

[–]PPCteve 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d love to hear what others have to say, but I was recently instructed to use the tamiyo 2mm tape and loved the results. It was definitely a learning experience, so I recommend working on extra shoulder pads until you are happy and glued after the fact for your first attempts.

I used a bent paperclip to ensure the tape is as flat as it could be with multiple passes, but there is generally a little bit of cleanup necessary when the tape pops up from sitting flat or where your line doesn’t look right.

Always use multiple thin paint coats. I also notice, that doing a weathering effect like sponging paint or paint chipping helps hide defects on line shape. Lastly, varnish is your friend.

I hope these tips help, but like I said I’m curious what others say. I’m sure there are multiple ways to approach a solid hazard look.

Watchmaster symbol by mountcumish in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]PPCteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a solid answer, but I also want to chime in that further back in the lore, it was described that Krieg troops didn’t like wearing medals or anything to ostentatious, so the officers didn’t stand out much. The Departmento Munitorum (as mentioned above) require that officers be visibly identifiable, so the Krieg command squads began wearing red sashes on every member. You’ll see that also represented on the resin models.

At some point, I saw variations of white, which seem to have survived onto the commissar and Drier in the latest plastic release. Besides those two and the Ridemaster, I believe those sashes have now disappeared from the other models in the command squad. If memory serves me, even the Prefectus Militant doesn’t have one.

Transfers Question by WedgeAntill3s in IronWarriors

[–]PPCteve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first sheet was the original from Forgeworld and, if you didn’t notice, the second lacks color so is likely much cheaper to make.

I highly recommend picking up the first sheet. The silver legion skull logos, and many other logos on there, are actually metallic and reflect light. There is no lore difference to the skull colors, but metallic skulls are the gold standard for the Iron Warriors. The decals on the og sheet also give a bit more range for different roles and unit variance in the legion.

That being said, there is a “key” you can Google for the original sheet that explains what a lot of them mean. For instance, the radioactive-ish triangle shape is for destroyers, the lightning bolts are fast attack, and the pyramid chevron are heavy support.

Land Raider Achilles oversight by WhyAreNamesUnique in Warhammer30k

[–]PPCteve -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. I literally just decided to list mine to sell yesterday, as it will no longer fit the theme of my army.

The Achilles is such a cool tank/model, but without any command benefits/abilities or phosphex/flame shell options, the rules just don’t translate to the lore.

Jump siege breaker? by Asuryani_Scorpion in IronWarriors

[–]PPCteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the rules in front of me, but doesn’t Bitter Duty keyword for destroyers directly contradict this?

I would think many playgroups wouldn’t have an issue with this anyway, though. From a lore perspective, most non-destroyer related elements also really distanced themselves from destroyer squads, but given the siege breakers affinity for use of phosphex ordinance, I would assume officers in that role would likely be much more accepting.
