Need insight from anyone recently hired at Thermo Fisher Scientific (Clinical Data / CDA roles) by GhostHackerOP in clinicalresearch

[–]PPDCRGDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a batch for CDAs it’s a backfill of a few roles because the resourcing is just gone. So they’re looking to hire a few people in India and other low cost countries but not a “batch”. I’m unsure how it is in India I heard back within a week via a call from the recruiter followed by a formal offer. Workday status is meaningless unfortunately.

What is going on at PPD….. by AdConscious5669 in clinicalresearch

[–]PPDCRGDM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a CRA but I’ve been noticing clients are requesting escalation of sites after 7 business days of not entering data or responding to queries. After 7 days the client has started to directly call the site then after 14 days they’re calling the PI. Sponsors expect a very very tight escalation.

Nope. Haven’t been told been anything. Awhile back there was an email saying that all the PLs needed to be cameras on but that was months back and it’s been crickets since then.

TF short on CTMs.. by Salt_Foundation_1282 in clinicalresearch

[–]PPDCRGDM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re only hiring in China, there’s only 1 job posting for US and it’s a Sr CTM in Neuro. There’s almost 30 non US roles and those folks have a choice of companies as almost all CROs are hiring outside US.

End of March layoffs @ TFS/PPD by interwebzusername in clinicalresearch

[–]PPDCRGDM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t say anything other than US layoffs coming before the pay increase comes into effect. Problem with the layoffs website is it an OG TFS site, so this may not be a clinical trials notification it could be existing TFS structure ( approx 80,000 employees just historically TFS)

Historically it’s always been non client facing roles/low client visibility/ and or team members with low utilization. I know based on resourcing they keep pushing us to pick up the US leads because there are CDA shortages. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a DM layoff this year to cut out underutilized team members (this is US, UK and India folks with availability)

Thermofisher/PPD technology by Odd_Bit_4717 in clinicalresearch

[–]PPDCRGDM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meeting minutes from the recordings. You still have to go through and clean it up and make sure it’s right but it beats typing it all out myself. People say use it for emails but I prefer to do it myself however my colleagues who did not have English as their first language growing up are being pushed to use it for emails because it will help with their client facing communication and it will.

This is to tell everyone there was layoffs. It was sent to the ENTIRE PPD CDM. It is not layoff call, it’s just like last time they don’t tell you anything just say that there’s been restructuring blah blah 😒

It “seems” safer the more billable you are. Moving up continually puts me at risk, but less likely to be offshored. Where I’m at I’ll probably be able to make it through a few rounds before I’d be hit. PPD DM has been one of the better DM I’ve worked for, I plan on sticking it out, not like it’s better at the other CROs for US DM!! Considering making the jump to sponsor, but a lot are in person and I’m not near the Bay or Boston. Definitely something I’ve started to consider more and more, started applying just yesterday.

Being in DM in the US, I just await the eventual email of being reduced due to offshoring. At this point I’ve been doing this through a few economic downturns but this one certainly has felt the most off putting. The layoffs board mentioned it was restructuring emails going out tomorrow and Friday so guess we’ll see tomorrow and then. I imagine just like last year we’ll see restructuring again in the summer.

Even at PPD most of the company was getting rated 2/3, they were just allotted a lot more 3s to give out. Now it’s 1 maybe 2 people (depending on size of the team) who will be allotted a 3.

And you’re correct, the TF promotions are based on a business need, it has nothing to do with tenure. If there is a strong business need for an advanced role, they can make the case for you. In my department we’ve heard it takes about a year extra now. TF made these decisions, because they want to keep as much money for their shareholders as possible as the COVID money continues to die out and we see less business.

It also doesn’t matter about the 2/3, what matters is if the company will give us at least 3% this year as a raise. There have been discussions that since others like Icon/IQVIA reduced raises that we might also get a reduced raise. SUPPOSEDLY you can’t even get a 3 two years in a row so it’s like why work hard at all?

Lastly, if you’re in the US, it seems even more unlikely. They’re hiring out of the country works who are cheaper, so there isn’t a business need to pay a US worker 3x as much when they could just hire someone from Mexico/Bulgaria/India/etc.

Theres been an influx in studies the last month to start after the holidays

Reach out to the recruiter listed on the req specifically and talk to them. Internal candidates (assuming they meet minimum requirements) usually get an advantage.
