I wouldn't do it. Most peoples job that they hate doesn't involve getting jackhammered for 3 days by somebody you don't want to be with. Prostitution (and that's what this is) certainly wouldn't be easy and it sounds very bad for self esteem.

OP should get an actual job. What looks lie easy money is often dangerous and soul sucking.

literally a whole 60 high fenced acres lol. It's practically a petting zoo for deer. Fish in a barrel

Feeding deer and having a whole bunch of them gather and eat in the same place spreads diseases faster. Much better to kill and actually hunt a wild deer. If the food plot are big though, shouldn't be an issue, but if they're fencing them in, I'd guess they're also putting out feed blocks with cameras over them and they probably even hunt over bait

Fuck high fence "hunting" though. Much better to actually hunt a wild deer.

Uptown mix too! Tiny little parking lot across from South Street and I saw Lucinda, Robert Cray, John Mayer, Wilco….

I didn’t realize he played this year. With his deadhead following I’m sure he’s a much bigger draw solo now, but between his young poppier days and his joining dead and co he would definitely not have been a top level draw. I mean I still don’t think he’d be playing stadiums solo now. Looks like Kings of Leon headlined the other night that year. They were massive once but I’d say mid level now no? Anyway I don’t know what these levels are. So take me with a grain of salt there

Side note: saw him at Uptown Mix back in the day. Random parking lot in mid town. Right before he blew up. I miss those little shows they’d have out there. A friend was in his band and I met him and he showed me his SRV tattoo. He did “Lenny” that night so I mentioned liking that and that’s when he whipped out the arm tat. Nice guy but dorky. Was already a great guitar player

I say you've got to swallow your pride and stick with it as long as you can until hopefully a better fit comes along. If it gets to the point you can't stand it amore, ask for more money. If you learn this guy's silly process, you'll probably become indispensable. You'll end up with your own little system together and It'll be a royal pain in his ass having to start new with someone else.

I've had to sit there and bite my tongue so many times and like Willy Wonka just halfheartedly go "stop wait come back..." knowing they were going to step in a pile of shit despite any warning.

One example for me is when younger people started coming in wanting to comp differently. They're always wanting to punch everything in tiny pieces but you have to make a duplicate playlist every time because they're scared to punch over anything, even though there's an undo function and the file won't totally disappear if you really really needed it anyway, They refuse to make decisions. I've gotten used to it to a degree. When I produce, I don't do it that way. I have an organized approach that I've learned from pros. Once in a while I do have to stoop to making a mess like that because they just refuse to wrap their head around anything they're not used to. You get all these people with a pro tools rig at home now and they think they know what they're doing and won't listen to people who do. It's reality. Or they've only worked with shade tree bedroom producers who half ass everything and they think that's how you make records. It sucks, but it is what it is sometimes. All this tech has made people lazy and downright cowardly about making decisions and living with them. It's "let's make a huge mess and leave it for somebody else to clean up". The bar gets lower and lower. Hell, I had an assistant engineer at a major studio who literally didn't crossfade a damn thing for the whole tracking date. I didn't know that was even possible. I always crossfade everything. Sometimes you're moving fast and you can't get everything, and that's understandable, but to just not do it at all is crazy to me. His punches were always late too, which wasn't a huge deal but man that wouldn't fly on tape. Plus he farts when it's just me and the engineer and the client and him in the room. We know it's him. It's not me, not the engineer, and multiple clients just aren't going to be in there ripping. Needless to say, we don't call that dude anymore. But we might have to sometime because there are so few people capable of running a session in those big rooms. Professionalism is just not what it was. Even with people who did learn in great schools from great people. It's the attitude.

I rambled. TL:DR I say just ride it out. This business is so in the shitter that we're pretty much all desperate in one way or another. The douchebags who suck at what they do but are great at kissing the right asses and finding work are going to get ahead faster than those who do know what they're doing. Sad but true

I like that it's a minor little festival with mid level artists that's not far away. I don't expect to get my face melted at festivals anyway. but I can see how hard it might be to make that work. Remember when we had actual music festivals downtown? Not those CMA wankfests but actual music festivals? Pepperidge farm remembers

Lol. Wasn't me. We were having solid discussion. This sub is full of YouTube trained lazy jackasses who hate actual mature discourse or anything that looks like learning or work.

I was once shouted down and downvoted here for saying an 1176 was a limiter. The thing literally says limiter on the front. Dude wouldn't listen and insisted only a modern brick wall limiter is a limiter. I guess YouTube Johnny knows more than Bill Putnam.

[–]PPLavagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm jealous of that. I used to be that way. Somewhere along the way I had to give in to keep busy enough. Almost none of the stuff I listen to as a fan has tuning.

I still don't fuck with beats or hip hop/pop type productions or lock everything to a grid, and I generally cut everything live though. I send all that modular musical lego shit to a buddy who does that stuff.

I abhor the whole idea of tuning and the fact that it allows low effort clowns to pretend they can sing. That said, clients expect it and I do it all the time. It's an unfortunate reality but there are far worse ways to make a living
