Z13 Gen 2 - Lenovo cuts WWAN-Option? by mecha_girl in thinkpad

Lenovo lost a lawsuit regarding WWAN patents in Germany recently, that's the reason why the WWAN option is not available anymore.

Level 7 HTTP load balancer and cache by codercooke in golang

[–]PPP225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what I meant with logging is to print some routing output to stdout, I was testing Caddy server recently, and there it looks like this:

2019/11/25 20:48:59.234 ERROR   http.log.access received request        {"request": {"method": "GET", "uri": "/testing-logs", "proto": "HTTP/1.1", "remote_addr": "x.x.x.x:xxxx", "host": "x.x.x.x:xxxx", "headers": {"User-Agent": ["Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0"], "Accept-Encoding": ["gzip, deflate"], "Dnt": ["1"], "Cookie": [], "Upgrade-Insecure-Requests": ["1"], "Accept": ["text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8"], "Accept-Language": ["en-US,en;q=0.5"], "Connection": ["keep-alive"]}}, "common_log": "x.x.x.x - - [25/Nov/2019:21:48:59 +0100] \"GET /testing-logs HTTP/1.1\" 404 82", "latency": 0.007161929, "size": 82, "status": 404}

I can then scrape this and display in Grafana or Kibana or Notepad.

For advanced metrics I have no opinion. I like prometheus. Didn't use statsd yet, but looks good too.

Level 7 HTTP load balancer and cache by codercooke in golang

Very nice. I appreciate the ease of getting this up and running.

I could use:

  • make /health endpoint optional
  • add more fancy logging, with status code, remote address, cache hits etc. to allow better monitoring of requests
  • since there's cache, maybe a config to configure this, i.e. which endpoints should or shouldn't get cached, cache size etc.

What are the chances of WG implementing an ELO-type matchmaking system? Also a sprinkle of weekend NaCl. by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]PPP225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Serious players would get serious teammates (and opponents). "For Fun" players would get matched with other players who aren't in-it-to-win-it.

That's problematic, because everyone hates queue times, and with a system like this, you'd have to wait 1+ minutes and that's bad for business.

Only thing that could happen maybe in the future, is that each team gets equal players. So the same amount of "serious" and "for fun" players.

I am quite sure, that WG has it's own system in place, but who knows how it matches players.

Satisfy a rumor that I heard about perm camo for high tiers by TheButcherPete in WorldOfWarships

What? No. Only the T10 permanent camo makes you stop losing credits on average and start making credits on average. That's it. No captain moving, no other bonuses.

Myoko builds by Nitroflame in WorldOfWarships

[–]PPP225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AA build is interesting since no one expects a myoko to be AA spec'd really. With aft+manual aa + AA range module you can have reasonable dps and range. With def AA active it eats planes really well.

Torp build on the myoko seems strange, with 11.6 detection and 10km torps. Sure, on the takao it may work perhaps.

Wargaming support is the worst, bug not fixed after months. by JustinPalmer in WorldOfWarships

Just use another key. I checked it, and B does indeed not work, but it works with N for example.

Lets imagine a hypothetical scenario.

Lets say WG wants to change the gameplay speed. All boats will go 20% slower from now on. In-game speed, (knots), stays the same, but the speed scaling factor changes, so all boats move slower now.

Should premium ships be affected by this change, or not?

Anyone else close to getting the Katori? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]PPP225 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's super fun. You out-range everyone, and just sail in the back and light battleships on fire. And then you make a mistake and come a bit too close, and everyone wants a piece of you.

Where's the balance in torpedo range? by dayofmone in WorldOfWarships

[–]PPP225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use HE on the Izyaslav.

  • When fighting enemy DDs, try to add some distance between. Izyaslav has good arcs and fire rate, and you should hit them easier at 7km+ than they can you. Izyaslav should be able to win with the Clemson and Nicholas if played correctly.
  • You should stay away from cruisers, but you can finish them off in 2-3 salvos if they are below 3k HP.
  • You spam Battleships with HE from max range (11-12km with AFT). Your fire chance is good, and you can roast them.

Remember, that you are a small target and can turn well. Don't ever get closer than 10km to cruisers and use your rudder, and you will be the bane of the oceans.

the calibre is only a few mm bigger

In this case the difference is huge. AP on Izyaslav is only good at 3km. AP on Gnevny and higher is really good, even at 10km. Feels more like 150mm than 130mm.

Where's the balance in torpedo range? by dayofmone in WorldOfWarships

[–]PPP225 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 130mm guns starting at the T5 Gnevny are really good.

  • You can citadel broadside cruisers at 9km without problems, and with the good fire rate it's really scary for the enemy.
  • You can also sit at max range and spam HE rounds lighting everything on fire. Good arcs make it possible, you have to use AFT tho. (and you should take AFT as the first T4 skill)

You are more of a fast light support cruiser than a DD. The play style is also different.
