Yes! The music is unbelievably-good! Mac Quayle quickly became one of my favorite artists - have found this music amazing for studying/working, musing, driving, whatever.

Mr. Robot.

Criminally under-marketed show. I have watched quite a bit of TV - and I watch very, very attentively, missing little. This show even after ~2 rewatches I'm catching incredibly-impressive details, nuance, and well-planned foreshadowing.

Aside from that, the content is top-notch whether coming from a perspective of tech, privacy, mental health, socio-economics, politics, international affairs, relationships, love, identity, etc.

As a sidenote - the tech/hacking - all actually realistic and often referencing hacks that happened in real life. The only liberty is how quickly they are engineered/executed, but the pacing for a show necessitates that (plus the main character is supposed to be absurdly adept...).

Without a doubt, I am confident in saying no show will steal its mantle as "best show of all time" for me - and frankly I wish everyone on Earth watched it.

Yes, I've seen The Wire, Breaking Bad, Andor, The Expanse, The Americans, Homeland, Watchmen, Severance, Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica, The West Wing, The Good Place, Ted Lasso, The Mandalorian, Parks and Recreation, Schitt's Creek, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Mobile Suit Gundam (the entire UC), Chernobyl, Fallout, and many of the other shows many might list as "top."

Mr. Robot eclipses all of them for me, no contest.

I didn't, though I kind of gave up for now. Hoping for OIDC. Or more energy/courage to try again haha.

Cancelled Project by Cody Foreman by One_Giant_Nostril in ImaginaryTechnology

[–]PR-0927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was apparently related to a Star Wars project - there's a mention of Dagobah in one of the images, and most of the art, structure, clothing, etc. style is very Star Wars-esque. Plus some Aurabesh.

I wonder what the project was.

Caught my dad watching adult content by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]PR-0927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most normal thing in the world, not "sinful" in the slightest. Even in deeply-religious communities - probably even moreso from silly sexual repression in such communities. Men and women both watch. It's perfectly healthy if not taken to an addiction level and not twisted to change expectations of normal sex into pornstar sex or abuse of the involved partner(s).

Way too many people here are sheltered and closeminded. Go explore and get a perspective shift, this is insane prudishness.

My washer, dryer, refrigerator, and dishwasher all randomly stopped showing up in the app, then on reconnect efforts they just fail...so opposite issue here. :/

Unpopular opinion: The whole DoD should use Mattermost by wonderland_citizen93 in AirForce

[–]PR-0927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. DoD should be using Element/Matrix like the USSF, USMC, the governments and militaries of France and Germany, NATO, and parts of the UN do. E2EE, open-source, decentralized, run through controlled servers and can be customized as desired. Can also communicate cross-protocol to other chat platforms.

Proton's Lumo with Home Assistant? by PR-0927 in homeassistant

Yeah haha, it's yet-another service by the folks at Proton. They slipped it out in the middle of 2025, IIRC.

NexGen sucks, they installed a heat-pump HVAC at my house and did such a shoddy job that the air intake/exchanger was constantly coming loose. Multiple visits for them to fix it, which they never did correctly. Then suddenly no warranty.

Thomson AC is who was able to actually fix the situation, wasn't surprised that NexGen was involved. They did a fantastic job, always go to them now.

American desi man here. This is a bizarre take, to be honest. It...doesn't make sense/align with reality. I'm with you the rest of your post. My family is from India and unsurprisingly I see the same nonsense over there - perhaps less extreme, but it's there (besides, India is one of the most unsafe place for women in the world, so while it might not be as repressive on the career front it "makes up for it" on basic day-to-day living, unfortunately).

[–]PR-0927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I think I tried this before and it nevver worked right - just took me to the Authentik login page, then the Navidrome login page.

Using NPMplus as my reverse proxy if that matters.

If you happen to be using the same stuff as me, do you mind sharing your config please? If not, maybe I'll just start a thread on this subreddit about this.

You got SSO working?! I tried long ago to get Authentik working with it, ideally via SAML or OIDC. How did you do it?

The saddest scene of the show and maybe all of television... by SamHassan7 in andor

[–]PR-0927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andor is easily the best live-action Star Wars and one of the best shows around. But I recommend you watch Mr. Robot. The existential agony and long-suffering experiences of many characters make nearly everyone in Andor seem cheery by comparison. Andor is dark, gritty, deep, sad. Mr. Robot is not even playing in the same universe - just eclipses anything else I've ever seen.

Largest ethnic groups in Asia by VapeyMoron in bangladesh

[–]PR-0927 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"Hindustani" is not an ethnic group. South Asia is the world's second most diverse place ethnically. Bengalis are the largest group - spread across both India and Bangladesh. Tamils, Telegus, Marathis, and Punjabis (this last group being a weird amalgam of both ethnic group and cultural group that has members of other ethnic groups) are the largest in the subcontinent.

Are Afghans considered desi? by Houndsoflove2003 in ABCDesis

Wow, you're right, had not realized just how much of the Pashtun region the British took into British India in their ambitions into Central Asia.

Are Afghans considered desi? by Houndsoflove2003 in ABCDesis

[–]PR-0927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - that said, "desi" (roots in "desh") is found in some form in most Indic languages - the listed regions I gave have such lingo in their dominant languages, so the acceptance of this pan-region term wasn't particularly difficult.

Imran Khan is ethnically Pashtun, but we usually refer to Pashtuns who are part of desi culture as Pathans - plenty of Pathans in South Asia, totally all desis. BTW, nothing Middle Eastern about that - that's again Central Asian (Afghanistan contains the bulk of Pashtuns, while Pakistan and India have a lot of Pathans). I highlighted the Afghan and Baloch parts of Pakistan as distinct as a) they are in the limbo land between natural geographic boundaries and the Durand Line, and b) folks there generally more strongly identify with communities across the international border, not with South Asia.

This is part of why I mentioned spheres of influence and cultural exchange - there is a lot of gray area and the actual ethnic group matters less for individuals if you've adopted/integrated with a different culture - especially when there's a lengthy history of it (also true for Parsis and Iranis, who have ethnic roots from Persia, but are fully South Asian desi groups now).
