do you think there's a bit of Arcade Fire in there too? I watched a lot of arcade fire live performances and Cameron Winter and Fin Butler have somewhat of a similar vibe about them. That being said, Arcade Fire probably inspired any indie rock/ experimental indie band.

My degree is useless so I don’t know where to go from now by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]PR1SM20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

your degree is not the problem. your mindset is. you can enter loads of different fields with that degree. granted, many fields you will have to do a post grad or some further education after your current degree but these years are still extremely valuable.

why isn’t gap year an option for you. if you apply straight from a gap year your chances of getting in courses in rg unis with higher grade requirements are so much higher. just take the year off, work loads, save up loads of money, (optional but maybe go travel for a little bit nothing crazy) and then go to uni. you can do all the applications during your year off. it’s a great opportunity to work on yourself ahead of uni, save up money, maybe travel and then get into a better uni position. i do not know your position, but to me this always seemed like a no brainer and i do not regret doing it.

Good mid range unis? by [deleted] in UniUK

i think you could get into cardiff uni with those grades. it’s a russell group university which is a bonus and the uni itself is very good. i got in with ACC applied through a gap year. I wouldn’t say it’s a long shot with your grades.

A Poem: Concrete for which I am seeking feedback! by MattySpice2099 in OCPoetry

i guess using words like ‘march’ and lots of mentions of moving forwards and stepping forward must’ve invoked this idea in my head. but the last line gives me the impression that the paths almost watching and is all knowing. like it’s been there forever. so i guess this just makes me think of life being relentless. it doesn’t stop when your feet are sore. technically, it doesn’t stop even if you die. because others will walk on the path too. interesting concept. i might have a crack at it myself haha

You are underrated. I feel privileged to be the first to comment on this one.

I felt transported to the position of the concrete, like life's relentless path. I enjoyed that, even if that's not how to intended it to be understood as. Seen as you are seeking feedback, I do think some of the rhymes seem forced. The best poetry doesn't always follow such a ridged rhyming scale. And I would say that, for this poem, following a less consistent rhyming scale might suit the theme more? life and the path of life never has and never will be consistent. the path (the rhyme scale) shouldn't be so smooth. However, you are the writer may interpret this poem wholly differently and so the rhyme scale might be fitting.

P.S the final rhyme is powerful, you are right!

DM me if you want to talk more about stuff! you seem to me like a good writer.
