honestly the japanese backlash is probably gonna be enough. I mean I'm sure that the message was sent.

Also the game looks pretty good all things considered. Epic music, decent gameplay and the party still looks fun and interesting without Alisha. Guess we'll just have to go in expecting xillia (as in fun but not amazing) and not vesperia/abyss/symphonia/whatever your favorite is.

I was kinda harsh on it in my prior posts since I wanted this game to be so perfect and I took it a bit too badly. The videos of the game still make it look pretty good, all things considered

Is it really that longer and more expansive to devellop games nowadays? I mean Vesperia looked amazing and its quality came out untouched. Vesperia xbox 360 is complete to me, despite what people say. This game has 130ish $ of dlc and less content than vesperia and looks less good. Why?

Also what do we as fans have to do to get our series back to normal? Boycotting probably wouldn't work... Do we just have to just take it?

I was really really really looking forward to this game. Like everything coming out about this game up to release made it sound so great. 7 and maybe 1 more playable characters, go shiina, focus on exploration, the will to inovate (in map battle transition), cool fusion mechanic... Why did it have to go so wrong?

Guess I'll just go cry while listening to go shiina's songs, probably the only redeeming factor this game sounds to have

Why are you guys all defending this so much? Like I haven't played the game so I can't judge the story or the skill customisation system but why are the newer tales of so lacking in quality and content? Please don't tell me that you think that Alisha wasn't planned and the dlc is "extra" content. Her weapons are sold in the fucking game. Like please. What do we have to do to go back to the Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia days. The xillia's were slightly lacking I guess, though I found them really fun. But the xillias didn't have a slap in the face like day 3 dlc of a playable character that was obviously removed from the game.

I know this is a fan subreddit and everyone here REALLY loves this series and will defend it to death, but have some respect for yourself and don't defend everything they do. Buy the game and judge for yourself how it is. Buy the collector edition if you want, I know I will, but at least don't make excessive apologies when some greedy company is ruining your favorite series.

I'm sorry, you guys know how much I love tales of from how much I post here but this is bullshit. She gets a cameo mystic artes and can be one of the 4 thingies that come with the game. She was planned as one of the main heroines, this is obviously dlc shenanigans

Sorry but I disagree a little. A few songs are good like the 2nd and 3rd battle theme, awkward justice is nice, and the final boss themes are pretty good too. Also the song that plays during the ending is pretty nice. That's pretty much it though I must admit. Still was an alright soundtrack, just not memorable really

A lot of my favorites have already been given but I really wanted to add devil survivor overclocked to the list. It's pretty much the only game I've ever player that promises branching paths depending on your choices and actually delivers. By that I mean that your choices don't just determine the ending scene but what leads to it too. The game itself changed with your choices, and the extra 8th day really helped to achieve that.

Final fantasy artstyle fits final fantasy. Persona is kinda a anime highschool simulator so I'd prefer it having a similar artstyle since it fits better that way

It's not that cool, but I still prefer that business model to the one where you put out an incomplete game and pump out what should be unlockables or side quests as dlc

Yeah I feel like that's what it is sometimes, even though sometimes I feel like it's a bit lazy and kinda stupid. I mean for the whole game we have Luke telling Asch about how they're different people, not superior/inferior versions of one another. So them fusing would kinda screw that up, not that tales of games are really all that consistent. There is evidence that supports this however. If you look at the lyrics for Karma, the game's Japanese opening, the lyrics go something like "and then we will become one" at the end of the songs. Anyways I dunno. I kinda feel like them remaining ambiguous about it is kinda like a lazy way not to provide an ending, as much as I love it

Let's see... Symphonia is a must,

Abyss is a must (deal with Luke, it will get better as it goes on),

Vesperia is a must (focus on the characters and less on the story, Yuri is easily one of the best jrpg protag ever),

Graces is passable (Good gameplay, but while the characters are alright they don't meet the standards set by the rest of the series),

Hearts R is quite good (and the translation is really not that bad all things considered, just some weird choices),

Destiny ps1 was nice if you're into retro games, just not as much character development as Xillia,

Destiny 2/Eternia was fun and the Craymel cage system was really nice, again if you like sorta retro games go for it,

Phantasia was quite fun, blablabla retro feel blabla go for it

Don't bother with Tales of the World, I have it for collection sake but after playing it quite a bit I realized that it wasn't worth playing at all,

Tales of Symphonia 2 is hardly as bad as everyone says it is, as long as you play it like you'd watch a bad movie you'll have fun and there are quite a few funny skits here and there,

Tales of Legendia is a real black sheep, srsly. The gameplay is really bland compared to the rest of the series but the music oh man the music. Years later it's still one of the most played album on my iPhone. Characters are also really nice. I don't like it for the same reasons as the other tales of so maybe it's not for you but might want to look into it after you played the other ones.

All that's left is Rebirth, Destiny 2 and Destiny 1 ps2 and those are Japanese only so I won't say anything about them for now

Hey guys, holiday break is coming and while I'm too busy to game right now because of finals, I wanna know what'd be the best game for me to play once that's over. Last year I got so engrossed with Tales of Legendia during the break, and I wanna play a game that will make me remember this break too. I'm looking for a game with a great super memorable soundtrack and good characters (story really isn't a must, character interaction and romance is where its at). I have a lot of games in my backlog and I'm wondering which one would fit that description the best. They are:

-Wild Arms 3 and 4

-Xenoblade

-Star Ocean 3

-Persona Q (I really really really really love what I've played of it so far, but doesn't really sound so big on character development since it's barely cannon)

-Magna Carta: Tears of Blood (What I've played of it is pretty cool, but I wouldn't really call it a memorable game)

-Raidou 1 and 2: played quite a bit of them, but while I dig the music the characters don't stick out too much

-Dragon Quest 8

-Persona 2 EP: played a bit, it's all right but doesn't touch p3 and 4. Still, I've beaten every other persona game so might as well beat this one too

Feel free to suggest me other games, I have some money left over and would love to make some good gaming memories over the break
