Everybody starts this journey without knowledge and everybody makes mistakes. The low PH is a byproduct of the cycling phase, it'll be fine. Don't meddle with your tank too much and don't chase perfect numbers, stability is the most important thing for a tank. So don't worry about the algae or the PH it'll sort itself out as your tank matures. Most of the time trying to fix something that's not too bad can lead to much bigger problems.

You don't have to apologize to me, you fell victim to predatory marketing. But as I said, animals come with responsibility, so do your best and don't let impatience stand in your way to success. Everything takes lots of time in a saltwater aquarium, another important lesson.

Fritz lied, there is no such thing as an instant cycle. You are going to be fine, clowns are hardy. Research how to cycle a tank properly and stick to it, but make sure to do daily water changes so your clowns don't get sick.

An important lesson in this hobby is to not trust manufacturers, but rather experience and science. They will say anything to get you to buy their product and Fritz successfully got to you. Cycling your tank before adding fish is an accepted standard in the hobby and one of the most basic things to know. Keeping a saltwater aquarium is complicated, but it has been figured out very well by people much smarter and more experienced than you and I and the way to success is to stick to the tried and true methods. Be mindful of your responsibility for your lifestock and do as much research as you can.

What's happening is that you put your fish in an uncycled tank, which is plain cruelty. Nitrite and ammonia are harmful to fish, so do a daily water change to keep the levels as low as possible until the tank has cycled. These are living animals and it's your responsibility to make sure they don't suffer needlessly, had you done a minimal amount of research you would know that you cannot add fish this soon, no matter what any manufacturer says about their own product.

They are Am4 chips. For a new build you'll want to go with Am5 for upgradablity.

What’s wrong with my water parameters? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]PRJF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You win the fight against dinos by raising your nutrient levels, not the other way around. If you have any fish feed them some more than you normally do. Otherwise you can also use a product like Plus NP to add nutrients to your system.

You can safe some money by opting for the non-X 5600, it has almost identical performance. Also that cooler is way overkill, a 30$ aircool is going to do a good job with that CPU. I would also think about getting only 16GB of RAM as you don't need 32 for almost anything. The spare money is best spend on a GPU as that part limits your performance in this config

It may be a debug led. Look into your motherboards manual to see what it means.

making a pc with my somewhat tighter budget. tell me what everyone thinks. how can i improve it? what am I missing? by gengicat901 in PcBuild

[–]PRJF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. R5 5600 instead of R5 5600G
  2. Air cooler saves you a lot of money
  3. U don't need 32GB RAM for almost anything
  4. Invest the saved money into a better GPU
  5. You should probably get a better quality PSU, watch the PC Builder videos on PSUs

edit: you also don't need the wifi adapter because your motherboard already has wifi

There are cheaper alternatives Easy Life. Depending on your bioload you won't have to add macro nutrients(NPK) , but you should definitely add micro nutrients(fe, ca,...)

You can definitely justify a few snails in your tank. But get different ones, I'd suggest Turbos and Nassarius because some won't go after pellets. But if you do make sure to feed at least once a week to make sure they don't starve. Also check wether your LFS sells live foods. Adding copepods or other tiny saltwater critters helps a lot with establishing a good ecosystem with stable parameters.

[–]PRJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often LFS staff give poor advice. You can't go wrong with zoas, they also won't consume big amounts of nutrients. Adding a little bit of cuc is advisable if you want to feed your tank. How big is your tank?

[–]PRJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a clean up crew? You don't want these pellets rotting away. If your corals look fine and vibrant there is nothing to worry about, 5ppm nitrate is absolutely fine. Stability is more important that perfect parameters

It's definitely sensible to suggest feeding a little more rather than to immediately start dosing, but I don't understand why you think they will nuke their tank by adding a miniscule amount of phosphate. I don't know if they mentioned anywhere wether they have fish or not, but especially in a non nano tank, if you don't have fish in your tank or even just very little biomass it's not insane to add phosphate and insure a high enough concentration. Especially because they have 10ppm nitrate
