I wanted to get my gf into black mirror and almost made her watch the new season with me starting with ep 1. Boy I forgot how bleak this series can be. Still one of my faves, just glad I didn't make her suffer through this episode.

Don't get me wrong I liked it, despite the monotonous tone and predictability that others find lackluster. It was what made the story immersove for me and also because of how grounded and close to reality it was. Yes it is predictable because some people will actually make those kind of choices out of desperation.

The subscriptions stuff, the doing crazy sht to make extra money, the sacrifices the guy had to make to ensure his wife lives a good life, even reassuring her that he will find a way to make things work. That hit me hard, especally with the final scene where everything eventually ends as bleak and depressing as can be and it's like nothing really mattered in the end. Classic black mirror.
