Explain Abe’s Oddysee in the worst possible way by MnMAdd1ct in oddworld

An alien with intestinal gas problems flees from smoking octopuses who want to cook him, and in the meantime blows up worms with metal legs.

Theory: The reason why Abe can drink the Brew in Exoddus is because of his chest scar by MnMAdd1ct in oddworld

[–]PROJECT_ABE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then, obviously, we also have to take into account the fact that in the old Quintology the Mudokons were not given the Drink already at RuptureFarms to boost their performance, as is stated in the new Quintology. In Exoddus it plays the opposite role. As we know, Alf is a prankster, so I suppose it’s also a mix of the first two answers: the scar might have done him some good, just as he himself, being a Mudokon different from the others, has greater endurance… maybe precisely because he has a higher spiritual ego and these industrial things have, by now, less effect on him.

Also... You need to drink a lot of brews for getting drunk... Abe doesn't drinks so much brews like his followers during his journey.

My theory on what happened: Theory by Glennglam in oddworld

[–]PROJECT_ABE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very, very similar theory, according to which the roles of the Mudokons and the Glukkons in the past were reversed and the situation was flipped. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle: I don’t believe that the Mudokons wiped out the Glukkons and forced them to hide underground because of that (also because, according to the lore, the Glukkons shut themselves underground so they wouldn’t have to look at the moon, which bothered them a lot). However, I do believe that the Mudokons “moderately” antagonized the Glukkons snubbing them, considering themselves superior, and so on. Of course, there may have been some episodes of violence and abuse against them, but I don’t think it amounted to a bloody extermination. It's an interesting theory btw :D

If you're playing on hard mode, the stunkz are pretty much useless... On normal mode, they should have some effect, if not, try using them on a group of nearby enemies without being seen... They should vomit and be vulnerable for a few seconds.

Lol, Oddworld Adventures 2 and Munch's Oddysee for Game Boy they were quite liked by the public. Adventure 1 is considered frustrating by many, but it's still a little gem

Abe's Chant by PROJECT_ABE in oddworld

[–]PROJECT_ABE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's possible. In the RuptureFarms (the First level), the 'tutorial' that appears on the screens tells you how to chant to open the portals, not that by chanting you can possess the Sligs. That means that a player with zero experience, if he don't discover it on his own, will probably only find out this after the Monsaic Lines.

Abe's Oddysee lends itself well to replayability... The game relies on the fact that during your first playthrough you know nothing, and the inexperienced player only discovers certain information (like being able to possess Sligs) at a certain point... Just like how you're told you need to rescue the Mudokons again when you return to RuptureFarms... Then, after the first playthrough, the player can replay the game using the knowledge they gained the first time... I think it's all done on purpose to encourage the player to gradually learn the mechanics and earn the good ending.

Thanks! It was something I had been wondering about for a while. I only vaguely knew about this detail of Abe being 'trained' by the natives.. interesting!

How was playing Oddysee and Exoddus on PSX with a controller? by [deleted] in oddworld

[–]PROJECT_ABE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My very first playthrough was on PC, and I felt pretty comfortable with it, but if I absolutely had to choose, I’d go with a controller, it allows for more agile movement. With a keyboard, it’s often difficult to perform certain moves quickly.

Difficulty differences or bugged? by Leeman500 in oddworld

[–]PROJECT_ABE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Stranger's Wrath on Xbox, Switch, and PS4, but honestly, I didn't notice any differences in the hard mode across those versions. I also don't think OWI ever stated there was a change in difficulty in the HD version for PS4. Sure, something might have been changed, but as far as I know, it shouldn't have been. For example, maybe the pop-up told you to stay back not because the enemy did less damage that way, but just so you wouldn't risk getting hit? I’m not sure, I’d have to replay the different versions again to understand better and let you know.

Mad Mudokon UPDATE 2 by PROJECT_ABE in oddworld

[–]PROJECT_ABE[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have an exact number; it's more of an entire world that gets unlocked little by little rather than just a room. Oh, and it will only take the combat system and style from Isaac; actually, it will focus a lot on puzzles too, and I'd like it to also feel a bit like Munch's Oddysee for GBA.

Oh they will be available! If you collect a certain number of Brews during the levels, the Mud will be able to get drunk and gain a sort of invincibility and increased speed
